Rembrant
I don't think I was aware that this guard existed...or at least I don't think I knew it was plastic... It's cheap enough. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-1980-Ford-F250-F350-Midship-Gas-Tank-Shield-E0TZ-9K014-D-OEM/254211280576?fits=Make%3AFord&epid=2089944607&hash=item3b302c4ec0:g:nhoAAOSwZ8ZW3aFx

Rembrant
Good find! This is another one of those things that I realized after the fact are probably quite common with the 4x4 guys?
kramttocs
This is another one of those things that I realized after the fact are probably quite common with the 4x4 guys? I always assumed it was for ujoint failure protection but not really sure. Nice find!
Gary Lewis
I always assumed it was for ujoint failure protection but not really sure. Nice find! Well, I don't see that part number, E0TZ 9K014-D, on our new page: Documentation/Fuel Systems/Fuel Systems Part Numbers/Fuel Tank Shields. (I really need to rationalize that section! ) Am I missing it? This is the whole of the MPC's listing.

I thought this served as a rub guard in between the tank and the skid plate? 🤷♂️ But that is my speculation...
Gary Lewis
I thought this served as a rub guard in between the tank and the skid plate? 🤷♂️ But that is my speculation... I think that basic part number was used for at least two things. See below:
kramttocs
I think that basic part number was used for at least two things. See below: Here are some hard to make out photos of the middle shield and front shield with a skid plate on Camano. The shield lines up right with the ujoint and typically has a caked on layer of slung grease. My 80 1 ton is actually a woven and leather type material vs the plastic. Good to know... and it looks like it was there on 2wd trucks based on Gary’s MPC drawing (shows strap mounted tank).

Yeah, I thought it was on all trucks actually. Pretty sure all of my parts trucks (2 and 4wd) have them. Never realized some didn't come with them.
