EGR Valve part number

Christopher - I understand being confused with calibration codes and parts lists. So let me walk you, and anyone else following along, through it. The first thing you want to do is to go to this page: Documentation/Calibration Info & Part #'s, and then click on the Applications To Parts List tab. Then scroll down in the 33-page document until you find your application. In your case that's on Page 16, and I see three possible parts lists: 95; 147; & 149. (If you look at #122 you'll find it is a 351W, so that's not for your truck.)

Now, here's where the confusion starts. Which of those parts lists is correct for your truck? I've put those parts lists way below (I can't seem to get them all side-by-side) so we can see what is in them. And the first question that comes up is "Which item is the EGR valve?" As it turns out, that's either 9D475 or 9D448, as shown in the illustration of an EGR valve below. In your parts lists you only have the 9D448, so that's it.

But, the listings give:

  • #95 EOAZ 9D448-C (CX-452) Valve assy, (integral E.G.R. and back pressure—transducer) #E0AE 9D448-C1A.C2A

  • #147: EOUZ 9D448-J (CX-482) Valve assy, (integral E.G.R. and back pressure—transducer) #E0UE 9D448-J1A.J2A

  • #149: EOAZ 9D448-C (CX-452) Valve assy, (integral E.G.R. and back pressure—transducer) #E0AE 9D448-C1A.C2A

So, two of them use the same EGR valve, but which is yours? You may find a sticker or ID# on yours that tells you what it is. But if not, I'd go with the one that fits two of the three codes.

Hope that helps.

Hi Gary,

I moved this in case it is easier for others to find as a separate thread on EGR valves. See my original psot (below).

Could you help me confirm what egr valve i need before i order it? I'm struggling with the calibration and parts lists. I think i need calibration parts lists 122? I have a 1981 f250 automatic 351m 4x4 under 8500 lbs. Not Canadian or hi altitude. i looked up a couple valve assemblies on this list and they don't return egr valves (for example E0AZ 9D474). I'm stumped, if you could help me that would be lovely!

Thanks- Christopher

Has anyone else had luck getting a new EGR valve? I am having no luck for an exact match, and i'm hesitant to get one that's close but not a perfect match due to cost. This has me scratching my head as to how different can these things be?? :nabble_anim_confused:

bumping this...

No one seems to have E0AZ-9D448-C (or any other suffix). Where have others found these EGR valves? Are these only available NOS on ebay???

Will a more generic one from autozone/Oreillys etc work OK?

I think a generic one will work just fine.

But, I've done some Googling about this. This document cross-references to Tomco's part numbers. If you look, E0AZ 9D448-C, which is Motorcraft # CX-452, is shown as E0AZ-C because the "9D448" bit is common to all Ford EGR valve part numbers so they drop that. So they list it this way.

OEM # TOMCO OE

STYLE STYLE

E0AZ-C 10422 30201

So I'd be looking for a Tomco 10422, and Amazon has one.

Gary, that part picture suggests that it has two “heads” for lack of a better term. Do I need to worry about that, never seen anything like It and none of the other similar valves look like that. For the price I could probably risk it.

Thanks!

I didn't notice that. Like you, I've never seen one like that. Hmmmm, let me Google this a bit more..... :nabble_anim_working:

After lots of looking, with many dead ends, I'm back to Rock Auto's site. (I hope that link works.)

And on that page the third one, the Standard Motors EGV242, the one with the heart, opens up to this page, and if you look it says it replaces CX452, among hundreds of other #'s.

I think that's the one I'd go for.
