Rusty Canadian '86 F150 for sale ad

Recommended Posts

I'm only posting this for the wording of the for sale ad! Anybody who has sold something online knows all too well the pain of the 500 questions that start pouring in, no matter how clear you have been in your ad!

This poor guy is just trying to sell a rusty old truck...lol.

Description

NOT SAFETIABLE - NOT ABLE TO BE SAFETIED - PLEASE DON'T ASK IF THIS TRUCK CAN BE SAFETIED!!!

Okay lets try this again. After over 70 emails I still have this truck. It is good for parts only. It runs and drives just fine, but the holes in the body and lack of seat belts means YOU CANNOT SAFETY THIS TRUCK. Sure if you want to spend $5000 on it, I'm sure you could. But then just go buy another truck and not this old rust bucket. In other words, this is a PARTS TRUCK ONLY.

This has been good reliable back up transportation for a good number of years now. Mostly it sits there until I need to move a load of dirt or gravel, or some friend needs to borrow a truck to move furniture, or whatever.

It's not pretty, but it starts reliably in the cold when covered in 2 feet of snow, and it chugs along just fine. The body is crappy and full of holes. One of the seat belts doesn't work, the ceiling fabric sags down, and if you like rust this truck has it a plenty! It is not safetied, CANNOT BE SAFETIED without way too much work, but it runs just fine.

It would make a good farm truck for someone who just needs to move manure from one side of the farm to the other. The tires are newish and in good shape, and there is a half decent Canadian Tire stereo and speakers there as well. If you want it for parts the motor (8 cylinder 302) and drivetrain are reliable and could give more life to some other vehicle.

So, this truck is for parts only, or farm use. I hope I've been clear, you cannot buy this truck with a safety. I am not going to get a safety done, it is a piece of junk with a few good parts. If you really really really want to get this P.O.S. safetied, do it after you pay me the money and it is yours. I am not going to do it.

That’s hilarious!! Good for moving manure!

I thought it was kind of funny. Posting for sale ads can be asking for trouble sometimes.

Unfortunately, running or not the truck really isn't worth much. Body is shot, and the frame likely isn't much better. That leaves a 302, transmission, and rear end...none of which fetch any decent money on the used market.

You're right - we all know that pain. Doesn't seem to matter what you put in the ad.

Not much in the way of good parts but those are the factory bed rails, right? He might get rid of it for a song before too much longer
