The fact that there are people everywhere like this really reinforces my compulsion to avoid all human contact. Sad truth. But those situations give rise to opportunities, like this website and it’s normal old-school community (decency, values, common courtesy, etc.). And thanks to the Internet, dodgy operators can get found out faster and word spreads faster too. Hang in there, all is not lost. Besides, you have a Ford truck!
