A bit of a surprise, my parts truck assumed late 86 year model has the 87-96 cowl design

Interesting!  I had a discussion with a guy that said the pin cushion ones actually started in '86, but I've not seen proof.  Now I have!  :nabble_smiley_good:

It's definitely not a Bullnose part, as you can tell by the engineering number.

I could not find any engineering numbers on it Jim, but did find this stamp on it. It says RD Ford 1986

Stamp date makes sense. 1987 trucks are rolling off the line by September of that year.

Hard to argue with a part number though..

Could also be just a running change as they don't have any more 'old style' panels once the dies are changed over (I don't know where the stamping plant was actually located)

I went and looked at the VIN tag on the parts truck... it is a 9/86, so Sept timing makes sense.

For comparison, Stripes also an 86 has a 4/86 date and has the old cowl design. Interesting Bullnose trivia for the day. I hadn't noticed the cowl design until today, I've had my parts truck for a year now :nabble_smiley_blush:

Deal!

incilding Dutch “Drop”…

Drop: salt, sweet or honey?

Unfortunately, I priced how much it would cost to ship 8 pistons to Middelharnis, and it's about $60. The pistons altogether weigh about 8 kilos, which is roughly 18 pounds. If we traded by weight.....I'm trying to imagine what 18 pounds of stroopwafels looks like. 🤤

Maybe just a couple of pistons?

Also, what is "Dutch Drop"?

That cheap 650 AVS I picked up from Facebook was filthy inside so I spent a lot of time cleaning it, setting floats, flushing out all the passages. Assembled it on the Bronco.

@Ifitaintbroke contrary to what I said, the transfer slots are slightly exposed in my case on both carbs. That's how I was able to get a stable idle with ~20" vacuum.

I have to say the 1411’s low end torque is quite significantly better (tire burning better). On the higher rpm end I couldn’t tell a difference. The comparison wasn’t 100% apples to apples though as I realized later I had more stiff step up springs on the 1411.

My old parts truck was an 86 built in April if I recall correctly, and the frame was stamped E7T which denotes 1987. It didn't have the holes for the 87-91 bumper brackets, so it was intended for an 86. Just weird that the engineering number stamped in the frame was a 1987 number.
