Once upon a time I had a Mr. Gasket radiator cap with a thermometer in it. But I was having trouble getting it to seal so I was in line at the parts store to get a new one. The guy behind me said "Is that a Mr. Gasket radiator cap?" Yep. "Well, yours is probably the way mine was - crooked. I called them about it and they hung up on me." Sure enough, when you got to looking the stem was at an angle to the cap and there's no way it could seal.
