reamer
The bench seat I have is in great condition for 34 years old, not a tear in it, Can headrests be installed on these? I remember on my early Bronco, there were no headrests, but the frames were in the back for them. (these seats were used for another car model that hade rests)..... SCFlareside
Interesting question! Shoot I wish I'd saved the trashy seat I had just a bit longer....could have torn it apart and looked, it finally went to the dump about four months ago. (Wife has been convincing me not to save EVERYTHING) :)
LARIAT 85
I see a Lariat interior, but no "LARIAT" nameplate behind the door. What in the hell is this world coming to? I suppose adding headrests can be done, but not without extensive modification and destroying the seat upholstery. In other words, headrests were not an option for that style of bench seat. If you would like headrests, look at a later seat. Some 1987 - 1996 seats have headrests and are a direct bolt-in. 1987 - 1991 Lariat seats (this is what I have in Lucille) have a lower fixed headrest, while 1992 - 1994 seats have adjustable headrests. 1995 and 1996 seats have taller, fixed headrests. This is a Lariat "transplant" cab on my Flareside, Ford did not equip Flaresides with the Lariat package because of all the chrome body moldings, they did not make moldings for a Flareside bed... I guess I could install some Lariat badges on it....

Rick - That's really good info. This is a frequent question on forums and FB pages. We have the Seat Interchangeability page, but this info as well as pictures of the different seats would be helpful. Do you, or does anyone, have pics of those seats? The 1987 - 1991 style seat bolted into my 1985 without any modifications at all. I can't say for sure on the others because I didn't actually try them in my truck, but I have seen others on FTE who swapped in a 1992 - 1996 seat into a 1987 - 1991 model without any modifications. I considered all three styles above, and I personally think the 1987 - 1991 style seat feels the best. There was just something about it that was more comfortable than the others.
