delco1946 Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Thanks for the photo. Yeah, I was saying that two of those might be in the same spot but I didn't notice those are on the top and the other style is on the bottom. It’s interesting that in the exterior mirrors catalog posting, it says these aren’t available on rangers however I have a Ranger XLT with them. Perhaps the trailer special part trumps it being a Ranger? I’m also not sure if I’m going to spend 250 considering they’re stainless steel except for the mounts. My mounts are flaking chrome and my bolts are all rusty which is staining the stainless. I could probably clean most of that and get new bolts/ screws. But I have to admit I sure am getting tired fixing everything the hard way

But I have to admit I sure am getting tired fixing everything the hard way These mirrors were standard with the Trailer Special Package B, as well as the Camper Special Package. However, my 1980 brochure lists them as being an available add-on under the "Comfort and Convenience" checklist, so they could probably be ordered on anything. I'm not 100% sure on that. I've seen them on trucks with no Trailer Special badging so who knows. The upper mount lines up on all of the trucks (the third hole needs to be drilled), however the bottom does not. I installed a used set of these that I found in a local junkyard on my old F150, but my truck originally came with the sport mirrors so I didn't have the lower mount holes to verify fitment and whether one of the lower mount holes may have matched up. I never got around to installing the riv-nuts to mount them fully in place so I have no idea. I've thought about adding these to my current truck, but I don't really feel it's worth the work or cost since you can just make the extensions yourself out of scrap mirror arms that are plentiful in junkyards.

I’ve got those mirror extensions that mount on the mirrors. I think Scott mentioned them before. Can’t find an example for some reason! Found these on LMC though. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fd/full.aspx?Page=51
salans7 Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Good info and I like the Ranger! Thanks, I probably should have kept the old girl for parts but oh well.
