kramttocs
Can someone post a photo of the engine side hvac box diagram for 84? I have a number of the shop manuals but no 84 and curious about something.
Gary Lewis
Do you want a pic of one with A/C or just heat? If A/C I can get pics in the morning.

I always think this truck is an 84 but it's an 82 or 83. Anyways, I was at my parents yesterday and was going to take the aux battery setup off this truck and I noticed it had a piece of metal none of my other trucks have over the hvac box. It appears to just provide another point for the dryer to hook to. At first I thought maybe the early evaps didn't have two points of attachment but I checked the diagrams in my 80, 83, 85, and 86 books and they all look the same. All I can think now is that it helps prevent the dryer hoses from pulling down too much? Not really sure that's a problem though. It may be more common than I know - can't say the hvac box is where my eyes usually look when opening the hood of a truck. Edit: I guess it's an accumulator rather than a dryer - havent delved into a/c much yet...

But theirs is noticeably more slender than yours, so IDK if it's original. I've never noticed it on any pre-'94 truck, and it's not in any of my photos. https://supermotors.net/getfile/575337/thumbnail/95redf250engine.jpg

The master parts catalog doesn't show it in the illustration, below, and w/o a part number I'm not sure what to look for in the text section. We would have bought the truck sometime around 97-98 so possible a PO pulled it from a later year (maybe a one year design). Heading to the jy now so will keep an eye out for any others. Finding a few of the ones Steve mentioned and even a Hi Output box (I know nothing special but I don't think I've seen one in person before) but no brackets on any bullnoses.
