Gary Lewis Posted September 23, 2019 Share Posted September 23, 2019 I got into Ralston and parked near the City Hall building and tried to get my bearings... it was raining pretty steadily and my defroster insisted on turning the heat on. I proceeded on after a while and came to feel like that city hall building is the nicest thing in the entire town, the rest of it is quite literally falling apart. Do they have an antique store there by chance? Me & ND Bill stopped at a handful of those places on our travels, you can sometimes find some neat-o stuff in those places. But I didn't find/recognize a single business along that street, not even the drug store I saw there several years ago when I first took that road. Anyway, I turned around at the end of Main Street and went back to 18 to 60, I decided I didn't want to try and read those street signs using only a paper map and no GPS instructions to try and reverse navigate Nine Mile Road. I haven't been to/through Ralston for a few years, so don't know about antique stores. Last I knew there was only a cafe there. Probably a good idea to go back to 18 and that way to 60. Did you happen to see the signs going into Fairfax about the Tallchief sisters? At one time they were two of the top ballerinas in the world. Gary - I don't remember any specific signs about ballerinas or opera houses (I should have googled it before I went there), and maybe it was a cafe I ran across on my way in from the other direction, they had an orange, neon sign in the window is about all I remember. My guess is nothing is open on Sunday mornings, if there's anything even still in business. I read on the Internet how they've been trying to restore the opera house and there's a gofundme campaign for it, I should have had a gps take me directly to it but I didn't think about it + coverage out there is spotty, I couldn't even tell you when I got on 20 because of no signal strength. Chris - Central City has the face on the ballroom floor, if I remember correctly. Right? Dad was always talking about that, and I've seen it several times. The ballerinas and the opera house are in Fairfax, not Ralston, north of the Y where you hit 18. Fairfax was right in the middle of the problems where the white men were marrying Osage women and killing them to get their money. The book Killers Of The Flower Moon is about that, and the movie is said to be in production. Shaun - Maybe we should have a towing MPG category? I'd use Blue. I drove 128 miles to the show start mileage 74169 end 74292 fueled at casino 13.224 gallon fill up for a loaded mpg of 9.67 average top speed 55 to squirrelly above that speed headed home same load start 74292 end 74423 total miles 131 with a fill up of 13.154 gallons for a mpg 9.95 .Not sure how much I was pulling but i figured around 5000 to 6000 pounds with trailer being 2000 of those pounds Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This would simply be to lower wind resistance during the extended highway drive. should try the Type 14's too, they are about $8 each from RA. Seem to be a bit more aerodynamic than the type 5's. Or a diesel. Timothy (rust&crust) - You got back on! Good! 10 MPG isn't bad with that much weight. My 2015, Blue, got 11.0 towing our 25' SeaRay to/from Lake Powell in Utah. The boat weighs about 5K and the trailer, being aluminum, is just less than 1k, so we were at 6k #'s. We towed at 65 MPH and the engine handled it superbly. In fact, to this point I'd much rather tow with that truck that with Big Blue. There's no muss, no fuss, just "can do!" And, at 11.0 MPG towing 6K #'s vs 11.5 running light on Big Blue, the MPG is excellent. But maybe the new engine in Big Blue will change that. Having said that, Paul/Rogue_Wulff will probably, as David said, spank us. That Cummins is getting 30 running light. Blue gets maybe 20 on the same course. So 11 over 20 gives 55% when towing. That means Paul might get 16.5 MPG towing, although from what I've read the diesels don't lose as much MPG as the gas engines do when towing.
