Gary Lewis
Well, Cory [Rembrant] is sending his "old" Type 5 mirrors to me, so they will be in place for the 600+ mile drive to and from Skiatook. Thanks, Cory! These old mirrors needed a place to go, and I'm happy to see them spend some time on I-40 for Bullnose MPG testing! They might decrease drag, but they'll also decrease your rear view...lol. I just cleaned them up. They're not perfect, but they'll look just fine at 60mph. Those polished up great! They are gonna look good on David's truck. Nice thing to do, Cory.
Ford F834
I don't believe so, Jonathan, but if I get the chance, I will once again attempt to enhance the aerodynamics??? Wait... aren’t you running a different recurved distributor now that you didn’t have back in 2016? Pretty sure I’m running the one you had back then... 😉
Rogue_Wulff
I believe my mirrors are type 5, but you wouldn't know it from my gas mileage numbers. I know the feeling. Even though my truck has the bigger mirrors, it never got much more than 10 mpg with the 300 C6 and 2.75 rear axle ratio. Now that I have the 5.9 cummins and nv4500 in front of that same 2.75 axle, it gets well over twice the mpg it did with the gas/auto combo, and pulls MUCH harder with very little pedal input. If I didn't have stuff going on, I would love to join into the MPG test. It would be very ironic for the oldest truck, and largest displacement engine, to win.... What's bad are two things, my 1977 F150, 300 engine, C4 trans, 3.25 9" rear and the big tow mirrors would get 16 highway, and about 13-14 in town. Darth, with a very low compression EFI converted 460, E4OD, 3.55 gear and the same mirrors, gets a solid 10, but on long higher speed runs (70 mph) can get 12.5 - 12.7. Paul - Friday the 20th is the plan, I believe. And, it'll be Mr. Bass in Skiatook, to Hominy, north on 99 to 11, and back through Barnsdall to Mr. Bass. BE THERE! Where is Mr. Bass, and do they have diesel? If not, we may need to alter the plan a bit...
