Gary Lewis
I forgot about the top hat hubs. Those were interesting, to say the least. I forgot to ask about the top hat hubs. Anyone have a pic? A description?
salans7
I forgot to ask about the top hat hubs. Anyone have a pic? A description? Figured Steve would have already hit this one. Here's a video that shows the replacement of them. Very strange design that Ford used on the Ranger all the way from 1983-1997. Not sure why Ford decided to use it on the F150 and Bronco. There's supposed to be clips on the lug studs that hold the hubs on, this guy is missing them in the video.

Anyway, I don't think I've ever noticed those before. Thanks for the explanation.
Steve83
There's supposed to be clips on the lug studs that hold the hubs on...They're only for shipping between Dana & Ford - they're not necessary after the first time the wheels are installed (just like the clips on lug studs for many brake rotors). https://supermotors.net/getfile/470240/thumbnail/flangehublocks.jpg https://supermotors.net/getfile/556280/thumbnail/hublocksflange.jpg
