I don't want to use this carb(the original) because of the "stuff" not being used, also the price of the original is about triple, and I would like to start with a new carb.

Somewhere along the line, the spacing of the two bolts which hold the carburetor changed [2 11/16" increased to 2 15/16"]. I installed a 1970 Carter YF, which has the more narrow spacing, on the intake manifold of my 1986, with the wider spacing. About 10-15 minutes with a round file and it was on.

If the photos with measurements are of the replacement carburetor, you will notice that instead of holes, there are slots, for mounting. This is so it can be used on manifolds with the different spacing.

I need to use the base from the original carb because of the AOD cable hookup.

I can find a new carb that fits but the price is what's stopping me. The type pictured on the bottom

is about 1/3 the cost....that's the holdup..$$$ If I was still working, there would be no problem

I could make linkage that would work.

I was hoping that someone had did a similar conversion, and had a simple solution.

Thanks..Bill
