If you see a 1957 F100 for sale . . . post it

Would like to add PB, some type of OD/trans ( would love to find one of the original type cable activated OD units. But I'm sure super $$$ and kinda funky to operate). Add the Ford lettering back to the tailgate, etc. The engine is a 292, last year for the Y-Blocks.I have a softness in my heart for YBlocks. I have a 312 in my Bird.

I don't have a clue what transmissions fit the Y-Block, but maybe with and adapter you can get the OD?

Anyway, that's a cool truck! Congrat's. :nabble_anim_claps:

There are adapters, custom bell housings and even just doing some modifications, to get other transmissions to fit the Y-Block. T5s are very popular. But the T170 would work just fine. Anyone here have one??

Very nice truck!

I'm a bit partial to the 65, but I'd take a 64 or 66 if a clean enough one came along, at the right price.....

I liked the 65/66 as well. I like the Y-Block and that is why I went for this one. I have FEs, big ones :) So having a 65 or 66 with a 352 wouldn't interest me. The 6 banger would have interested me more. But the 292 . .they are just cool :) Also, the '64 has the right bed, not the "wrong bed", just like the 65/66.

Yes, having the "right" bed is a must, in my opinion. I once had a 63, and it had the "wrong" bed, in spite of being the original...…

I think a 64/65/66 would make a nice platform for a diesel swap like I have in my 80 F150.

As for FE, well I have that covered too. It's in a 74 F100 my father bought new.

Paul - Which one are you bringing to the show? Put your father's truck on a trailer and tow it with the diesel?

Anyway, what's this about "right bed" and "wrong bed"? I know nothing about those trucks.

Ford made the "unibody" trucks starting in '61. It was supposed to be a light duty truck, that had a bit more style. Problem is, they flexed too much, even for Harry Homeowner I guess. So they began to use the cab from the Flaresides, and a bed from the Fridges ( '57-'60 ). They sold this version through '63. It was the wrong bed, didn't match the body lines of the new '61 truck. But Ford sold them and they are considered the 'wrong bed" trucks. In '64, they got a bed that actually matches. ( Maybe even late in '63 ) Matter of fact, even the tailgate is the same from '64 up through the bump sides, '72.

On another note . . can't believe no one here had a TOD transmission :) 1984 - 1987 . someone has to be parting out a truck with this trans. I want it for my '64.

Thanks for the explanation, Pete. I did know about the unibody trucks, but didn't know that that they then changed to a mismatched cab and bed. Cool!
