Little Blue 82

Corey, I knew it would be a haul. I haven't read through your thread completely to see where you are in the process of restoration.

I'm in a pretty good spot. This winter was all new cab mounts, all new brake lines and calipers, etc, new fuel tank and lines, grind and paint the frame from the cab back, and rebuild the bed. Right now I really just have the bed to do, and then fill and bleed the brakes. I think it's going to keep it's lumpy ugly blotchy and chalky paint finish for 2019. Not a ton of work to do, but I'm in the middle of some home reno work, and I am very busy at work too. Hopefully she'll be on the road sometime in late May.

Before I'd tackle a trip like that I'd need all new door and window gaskets/seals, a radio, and some type of cruise control system. Other than that the truck should be good to go.

Corey, Do you have a thread full of just photos on your truck?

No, not really. They're kinda scattered throughout my various threads.:nabble_smiley_pirate:

This time last year I was installing my freshly rebuilt 302 and swapping in a 5spd manual.

Visually, the truck isn't going to look any different this year. The paint is still awful and the cab corners that are already full of body fill are starting to bubble a little bit. The paint was touched up a couple times. Overall it's pretty rough looking still, but it is mechanically tip top. Doing it all in stages...making it pretty will be the last step. It needs to run and drive well first.

Great job. Looking great. Little Blue 82 will be that nice too. I do understand the desire for the 302, the sound is just about the best of any v8. They just sound great.

I have to really think about the 302 vs 300 option. Especially since I will have a 302 sitting in the driveway.

Man.....that straight six is TOO cool though....That tall engine, with that long valve cover. Eye CANDY.

Guys - I'll offer my help on how to pull info from scattered threads, from across the whole of the internet, together. You can take a look at the first post of Dad's Truck Build thread and see how I'm doing it.

Threads or posts on your builds probably won't be as scattered or fragmented as Dad's truck's threads/posts are (I'm sure there are more than 20 different threads), but it is easy to get things fragmented. And it is hard and time consuming to find all of those things and pull them together again later. So keeping track as you do it is advisable.

But, if you keep track you have to do that someplace. And that's where this technique comes in handy. It is just a Word document saved on my Microsoft One Drive, although it could be on a Google Drive or maybe even Drop Box. Get the "embed code" and paste it into your post. Then when you update the Word document it magically gets updated in the post.

The old 5.0 has got to be one of the best sounding small block V8's ever produced. I absolutely love the feel and rumble of mine.

Having said that...I just got rid of a 302 this morning...lol. I'm working on a deal for a couple inline sixes...one a "shot" 300/6, and the other a good 240/6. The plan is to change over the 85 4x4 to an inline 6 engine. I've wanted one for a while, but couldn't never find the deal that I liked.

Guys. Front leveling springs I will order from Rough Country.

Need suggestions on eccentric bushings, anyone have any experience?

Also, RockAuto has this radiator....will it fit the factory core support? According to RockAuto, it should. Just wanted to see if anyone thought otherwise, or saw something not right about it.

Also, I may upgrade the cooling fan to a clutch fan. Gas mileage improvement, and faster warm up in winter. Not to mention less noise. Does the factory fan on this truck have a clutch, or is it direct drive like a lot of old base model non-AC cars?

Don't even suggest electric fans. Ain't nobody got time fo dat.

Nevermind, found it here: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/cooling-fan-s--illustrations.html

I should know to look before I ask.

Okay. Looks like Offenhauser single plane C series is what I am looking for. I have a 600 Edelbrock brand new in box sitting in the garage. So, I need some EFI exhaust manifolds, seeing that hedman headers are for 2WD, and buying the Clifford headers is like getting raped.

I keep seeing 1.7:1 chevy rockers are a common upgrade. That ought to help out breathing without upgrading the cam....

And ignition.....not sure what to do until I see again exactly what ignition is in it. I'd like to drop in an HEI dizzy and go.
