OBD 1 Codes

Recommended Posts

Do you have the decoder ring to tell you what those are? I'm not sure we do on here.

I have seen some. I need to find a good chart. Some of them are incomplete. We need one here though. The EFI Bullnose trucks (85-86) are OBD1.

Now all vehicles OBD1 do not share the same codes. Ford specifically has their own and so does Honda, GM, etc, etc. OBD1 was the Wild West.

Engines are easier to diagnose over the internet when all the codes are listed, and in order of test.

KOEO - (O) Self-Test Codes = ?

KOEO - ©(CM) Continuous Memory Codes = ?

KOER - ® Self-Test Codes = ?

Check Base Timing?

Check Timing Advance?

Do you have any Non-Stock modifications?

(Air Intake? Smog System? Exhaust System? Ignition System?)

Code 26 O/R – This could be the TOT sensor in his transmission.

(Transmission Oil Temperature)

Make sure the transmission is warmed up before checking codes. (drive it 5 miles)

When is the last time the tranny fluid and filter were changed?

Also, clean the electrical connector on the tranny....

They're actually EEC-IV. But not all of them have a working DLC. Click this & read the whole caption:

But you either read the codes wrong (some of those numbers don't apply to bullnoses), or the EEC is failing (throwing spurious codes).

It's a 1991 Bricknose with the 5.8 and E4OD Steve.

What Engine & Tranny do you have ?

His EGR system is a mess....

Try taking off the EGR EVP sensor.

Spray in some WD-40 or PB Blaster

Take a large flat punch and beat the EGR-Valve stem, closing the stuck EGR. Re-test

Vinny , show me some pics or a link that describes what I am looking at on the EGR system. I am not very familiar with them.

Thanks

Oh yeah, all of these codes were pulled with a jumper wire. IOW they are all KOEO.
