reamer
Anyone out there find a way of removing this in a 1986 351 4x4? I picked up a Scott Drake Dual port tube so I can re-install the original sender (so the instrument cluster gauge will still work) along with a new digital oil pressure gauge... (to verify the original) The IFS really gets in the way, And I won't pull the engine just for this... Thoughts?
Gary Lewis
Ron - I'm dense, but I'm not sure I know what you are talking about. Is it the hex-sided piece that screws into the block on some Windsors? Can you show us a pic?

Yep, the hex tube, its about 3 inches long, screws into the block then the oil pressure bulb screws onto that.

Apparently yours hits the suspension if you try to back it out? What about jacking the truck up, and placing it on jackstands of course. Or, pull the bolts on the driver's side engine mount and jack the engine up a bit?

Steve83
Where the heck is it on the 351 that it interferes with the suspension? Just forward of the filter, like on a 5.0L: http://supermotors.net/getfile/1053057/thumbnail/05gray14.jpg I've never noticed it being anywhere near the suspension - it's above the frame, on top of the engine crossmember, and the engine is offset to the passenger side. If yours is that close, inspect the engine mounts. https://supermotors.net/getfile/968728/thumbnail/engmtsv8.jpg https://supermotors.net/getfile/518663/thumbnail/enginemounts.jpg The factory hex extension can be replaced by common plumbing. https://supermotors.net/getfile/768241/thumbnail/switchsenderv8.jpg
