TSB Organization, Presentation, etc

I have the ability to hide a page from the menu. So that would constitute "just storing each TSB on its own page somewhere". In other words, the TSB's would be on the website but not accessible via the menu. Is that what you meant?

And we sorta have the "page with a search menu (similar to BBB's) above a long list of TSB links in numerical order with titles & descriptions" in the form of the index spreadsheet. However, it doesn't have the TSB's in numerical order. Instead it has them in alpha order within each of Ford's 9 categories.

And, we have the search function. In the example below, which is the first 26 entries in the index spreadsheet, I've hit Control-F and brought up the search function within the browser - just like the instructions at the top of the page say. And I've typed in the word "improperly" and the computer says there are 2 instances of that word in the index, and it has highlighted the first instance in orange. Plus, you can cycle to them with the up/down arrows. (And if you type in "transmission" it'll currently find 136 instances of that, although as we add TSB's that aren't yet in the index that count will go up.)

So here's what I propose: We hide all TSB pages but the index spreadsheet from the menu. So when you hit TSB's in the menu you'll find the index and can search for what you need, like a key word in the description or the TSB # if you know that.

Does that work?

That sounds just like what I imagined, but I was only making a suggestion. It's your decision how you want your website to work. And since I'm not likely to use that page/menu, you should put more weight on anyone ELSE's suggestions about how they'd want/expect it to work.

Well, I actually did reach out to my best source of input - my wife. And her input was basically the same as yours. So, unless someone else wants to help us here, .....

But, how are you going to find the TSB's?

On my computer, or on SMN or BBB. But very few of the ones you're collecting (including the ones I've sent) apply to anything I'll own. I like these old trucks, so I like helping people who own them, but I don't want to go back to driving one. I'm not even really happy about the '93 Bronco I'm building - I'd rather build it more like a '94-96, but I don't really want to pull the '93 engine/trans and have them sitting around.

Interesting. I like it that you are helping out of the goodness of your heart. And while I've been very appreciative of your help, that makes it even more impressive. :nabble_smiley_good:

As for driving the old trucks, I do like to do so. But, then I jump in my 2015 F150, which will light the tires sooooo easily from a stop and out tow the 460 w/half the engine, and I like that also.

I was talking to my brother the other day about those differences and he said "I can't tell you how many times I've told the story of bringing Big Blue back w/Blue", referring to our 1000 mile tow from Florida to Oklahoma in 18 hours. He was thoroughly impressed w/Blue as we motored through the night at 75 MPH with all the creature comforts one can imagine. Gobs of power on tap at any time, engine braking when needed, and getting 9.0 MPG to boot - which isn't much below what Big Blue gets running light.

But then I get in Big Blue and I like the brutality of the thing. It feels like it'll take on anything and win, although I know that isn't the case. So, I guess I have the best of both worlds? :nabble_smiley_wink:

Well, with the right bumpers... :nabble_smiley_evil:

https://supermotors.net/getfile/1071023/fullsize/stump02ch.mp4

:nabble_smiley_angry: IDK why that's not showing up correctly (on my computer, at least), but if you click it, you should get a video.

BTW

I just noticed that the Cowl Screen TSB isn't searchable (and maybe more of those recent uploads). But I learned that I can right-click a PDF on Google Drive, open with Google Docs, and it instantly OCRs it (with lots of errors) but it dumps the images.

Yes, with the right bumpers. :nabble_smiley_wink:

I haven't even found the video. I click on the icon and get a SuperMotors page, but don't see a video there. However, I do see pics that show what you were doing in removing the stump.

As for why it doesn't load, Nabble says it only supports "Youtube, Vimeo and LiveLeak".

On the TSB's, many/most of yours haven't been OCR'd. But that's easy peasy so I'll do that as I process them.

A funny thing happened on the way to the casino. An F250 wearing Blue Jeans pulled up next to an F150 wearing Blue Jeans and 23 FAT binders were transferred from one capacious back floorboard to another.

Sports fans, we have TSB's!

It looks like quite a few in the late 70's, and then everything from about '79 to '98. But, I'm just now starting to inventory.... :nabble_anim_working:

I recognize that scenery! Was this photo taken while you were enjoying your afternoon cup of coffee? :nabble_smiley_happy:

Yessir! Verona to be exact, although now the view is the same but the java is Sumatra.

I've now cataloged ~2.3 of the 23 binders, and have entered 159 new TSB booklets, each of which holds many TSB's. And, typically there are 3 or 4 bulletins for the trucks within each booklet.

And with those 159 I've just gotten up to the TSB's I already had - and there are more than 20 binders left to catalog! :nabble_anim_working:

You can follow along if you want. As I catalog the OneDrive systems automagically updates this page every couple of minutes: TSB's/TSB Bulletin List.

Just an update. Here's what the "TSB Library" looks like. Yep, everything on those shelves has to do with TSB's. We now have essentially everything from the late 70's to 1998. :nabble_smiley_wink:
