Ford F834 Posted December 4, 2018 Share Posted December 4, 2018 A friend on Facebook messaged me about his experience with steering gear seals and I thought I’d pass this along for what it’s worth... He had a steering gear box that was leaking out around the top shaft seal. He replaced it with a National brand seal. The seal was stamped steel and rubber. It leaked less than before, but still leaked. He then ordered a Precision brand seal and it was solid rubber (no metal) like the OEM one was, and no more leaks... I already have a new RedHead steering box on the way, but I'd grab a spare seal to have on hand if nothing else. (We buy loads of them through work, and they don't cost much). But, I was initially appalled to see that dirty seal laying on the top of the underhood toolbox. Then I saw the highlighted lettering. Trent's?
