Gary Lewis
Note on the Engines/Starters page that Ford used that kit on all engines up to and including the 351W from 1980 on to convert to the recommended replacement PMGR starter. That kit's instructions change the wiring to what is shown on the Electrical/PMGR Wiring page.

Ford didn't do it, at least as a retrofit on the Bullnose trucks for the larger engines. I don't know about later. However, I'm running a PMGR starter on my truck, and I think both Jim and Bill are on their 460's as well.

There's one more left if anybody is interested. Free shipping. If I'm correct I could just get the same starter that's in my 92 Bronco, 351. I don't think that will work as they are two different part numbers. But, maybe I've misunderstood?

Actually I was thinking weird there! So a starter from a 92 460?

So a starter from a 92 460? Starters are here: Engines/Starters. It looks like an E1TF 11001-CA for the 460. As for the '92 460, they may have changed starters by then. But Huck, the 1990 half-truck didn't have a PMGR starter on his 460. And my catalog stops in '89.

I think I'm really getting confused! What PMGR starter would I use on my 1986 460? Or am I way off course on this, thinking you install a PMGR starter?
