Turn signal Issue

So here is a turn signal issue that I was looking at today on my 85 Ford F250

Problem: Right front turn signal light does not work, including the interior indicator arrow. The rear turn signal light works.

Swapped the exterior bulbs between left and right front. Correct dual element bulbs are installed.

No joy.

Front left and rear left turn signal lights work

Hazard lights work all the way around, including the interior turn arrow indicators.

Parking lights work all the way around.

Marker lights work all the way around.

So in looking at the wiring diagrams found on this site, and in my feeble way of thinking, the problem seems to point to a faulty contact in the hazard/turn switch assembly in the steering wheel.

If that be the case, what might be a good source for a new switch? Any brands or sources to stay away from?

Please jump in if you see something wrong in my analysis.

Thx

I agree with your analysis. Since the hazard connection circled in blue works, you know the wires are intact, the bulbs are good, and the grounds are good. So it has to be the connection in the switch circled in red.

As for a source, I don't know of one. Lots of people seem to be having turn signal switch problems, but it doesn't appear that I have the switches listed. I'll be back.... :nabble_anim_working:

Oops, I forgot the diagram. :nabble_smiley_blush:

Good to know.

And now we have a page on switches: Electrical/Switches. It is far from done, but at least it has the turn signal/hazard switch numbers.

I got one from Autozone, they were the only ones in town that had one in stock.

Probably the same as ScubaSteve's in a different box. Been working fine.

I think they're all made by Standard and Wells for our era.

Had to unpin it to get it down the column. Bit of a pain.

Thanks Gary. Interesting warning note on the parts list about the Speed control assembly. Something else to look at before I open it up. In all the years I've had the truck I don't remember even seeing if it worked.

Thanks ScubaSteve and Grumpin. I was wondering about getting that connector to pass down the column.

Steve did you also have to unpin?

And any issues with the Speedcontrol assembly if you have that option?

Looks like I have about three options for possible purchase in this area. Napa, CarQuest, and AutoZone.

Napa being about $10 higher than the other 2 at $52.99

I did not need to unpin the connector but I did remove the plastic cover that wraps around the steering column.
