Gus Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Don’t know if I’m doing this right just got to the site and registered. I’ve got an 86 Ford 6.9 with lots of wiring issues trying to find a wiring diagram. Luckily I found this site and looks like it’s gonna be a lot of help.
BigBrother-84 Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Welcome! You're at the right place, for sure! Although the "normal" process is to first present yourself. Short story about you and your truck. Kind of "hand shaking" before starting a conversation. In the signature panel, a short description about your truck (model, year, engine, trans, or any spec you find interesting). And THEN, you'll be able to start a new topic in the Main Section, about any specific help you need.
Gary Lewis Posted October 28 Posted October 28 Yes, welcome. As Jeff said, your signature is to be about your truck so we know how to answer your questions. Your signature accompanies every post you ever make, so you probably don't want to say "Lots of wiring issues need a wiring diagram currently won’t start no power light, etc.." as you'll one day get beyond all of those issues. Having posted in New Members Start Here, even though it wasn't much of an introduction you've been promoted to Regular Member. So now you can go to the main section and ask your questions there. Last, where's home? I ask because we have a map, which you can see in the menu at Bullnose Forum/Member's Map, and we can add you with a city/state or zip/postal code. Who knows, one of us might be a neighbor and could help you.

Gus Posted October 29 Author Posted October 29 Thanks, Gary and Jeff. Not only am I not very experienced in wiring issues, I’m not very experienced at all in these online chat groups. This is my first.. also, very remedial phone skills. all these problems might be due to my Norwegian heritage. Anyway, thanks for responding. The truck is located on Bainbridge Island, Washington. 98110 No more questions for now. I’ll come up with something. Right now, I’m just questioning my sanity after looking at all the wires that go nowhere. Really thinking about trying to bare bones it and just having a push button to start. Thanks to y’all

Don't worry, this is my first too... and still the only one! 11 hours ago, Gus said: also, very remedial phone skills. all these problems might be due to my Norwegian heritage. Because of the cold weather and gloves not working with touch screen? 11 hours ago, Gus said: Right now, I’m just questioning my sanity after looking at all the wires that go nowhere. I had such "mysterious" cut wires in my truck. But each one has a color code and should be identified without too much difficulty. If you need help to understand the wiring diagrams themselves, don't hesitate to ask! Once you catch how they work, it's much easier to find your way. Understanding how to use a tool is as important as doing the repair, and you can learn the two here! 1
Gus Posted October 30 Author Posted October 30 not sure if I’m typing in the right box here, but I don’t know how to find a wiring diagram for my 86 Ford diesel, with the color coated wires with circles and arrows on the back, Per Arlo Guthrie. any info on how to find one, Without going on the dark web or hacking congressional emails would be appreciated. i’m trying to make one myself, but I’m running out of crayons. Thanks everybody.
Gary Lewis Posted October 30 Posted October 30 All of the wiring is in the 1986 EVTM - Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual. But I don't understand " color coated wires with circles and arrows on the back".
Gus Posted October 30 Author Posted October 30 Looking for a copy of the EVTM for an 86 Ford diesel pick up. Doesn’t seem to be available on eBay. Is it downloadable somehow from this Site? Still lost in the weeds here.
