ReneH Posted July 21 Posted July 21 I'm searching for a 1986 Hornpad with cruise control in a good condition. As an alternative I can also work with one who the plastic frame is in one piece. This is mine:
BigBrother-84 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Rene, I bought one in good shape when I was planning to install a «factory installed» cruise control in Big Brother. But I finally found a NOS «dealer installed» kit and I installed this one. So I have almost all the parts required for a «factory installed» cruise. I’ll give a look in my stock this week (probably Thursday or Wednesday). I can send you some pictures.
ratdude747 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 That's not 1986 though? I thought 1984 was the last year of rosewood (1985&6 got burlwood instead?)... as that's what my 1984 has and what it's original horn bar looked like. The way they designed the fake wood isn't the most durable and they like to shatter apart as you've found out. I ended up finding a tan leather patterned one out of an e-series van (compatible) and running that as it's build in a somewhat more-durable way (and I wasn't going for a concours repair).

You're right Larry. I just don’t remember which one I bought. Will send picts in couple of days.

As planing to rework the whole interior, some day, I also have done my first tries in watertransfer print. So maybe I will re-print all fake-wood in the same style, as I have to print some parts for my center console. How much do you want for it?

I believe we have found from past discussions that the one you have Jeff is from vans (different even than the one Larry is talking about) It looks like a nice specimen. I've said it before but I like that woodgrain pattern personally so I wish Ford would have gone with it in the trucks rather than burlwood. René - if you haven't seen it, check out the Restoring Rosewood page in the documentation. Might be interesting to you. I also recall someone else playing around with water transfer but I can't recall if it ever came to fruition.

Hi Rene, Let me inspect it thoroughly (I’m out presently), to be sure about its condition. I’ll take some closeups and will come back to you soon, in the middle of the week.
