Thanks, Rick. Please see if you agree with the changes I made: Bullnose FAQ's.

Also, because of your meddling/upgrade (:nabble_anim_blbl:) I added a page: Electrical/Ignition Modules. I wanted to see if I could figure out the EEC-III and EEC-IV system introduction dates, but didn't really do so. :nabble_anim_confused:

Looks good, Chief. Except:

The EEC-IV equipped engines didn't use a yellow grommet module. They used the

TFI = Thick Film Integrated ignition system, which has the ignition module bolted to the side of the distributor that works with a

Motorcraft 2150A = "feedback" carburetor.

Capiche?

Ok, I added that the 4.9L got the feedback carb in '84, fixed the TFI to be thick, and added the A to the 2150. Right?

Is that all ya got? :nabble_anim_blbl:

I *think* the EEC-III was used from 1981 - 1983 on California models. These used a brown grommet module and the standard DuraSpark II coil with a feedback carburetor. Ralph (1981-F-150-Explorer) had this system on his truck.

Also, according to my 1984 Ford F-Series brochure, there was not a "Lariat" model. The top-of-the line model this year was simply called the XLT.

You, sir, are correct. Here's the catalog entry for the EEC-III computer.

And, I added the bit about the Lariat coming out in '85 to the FAQ's page.

Gary, this was in my local yard... 1982 F150 with feedback I-6:

The other '82 I-6's I've seen were not feedback, but by 1983 it seems to have been standard. Ralph had some pretty good information in this thread:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1068301-what-year-did-they-start-using-computers.html

On a slightly different note, there is a Norwegian guy on Facebook looking for a flareside to make into a XLS clone. He says he does not want a 1980 because the metal was not galvanized where as 1981+ was. This is the first I have heard of such a thing. Any comments?

1986F150Six is correct. I looked at my 1984 brochure again, and it states:

"...the 4.9L Six is now controlled by the sophisticated EEC-IV electronic engine control system."

So, it seems that that both the 4.9L Six and the 5.8L V8 (2V) got the EEC-IV system with a feedback carburetor for 1984. No mention of the 5.0L V8 (2V) having the EEC-IV engine computer that year. It was mentioned in the early 1985 brochure, though.

There *was* a "Lariat" model in 1982 and 1983. Apparently, Ford dropped that name in 1984, and then brought it back out for 1985 and 1986. Strange.

Interesting. I do have the '81 brochure and there was a Ranger Lariat. In the '82 brochure there was a Lariat w/o the Ranger since that was a small truck.

Wish I had 1983, 1984, and 1986 brochures.

Anyway, I updated the FAQ's drop the Lariat in '84.

Another change you can add to your "Yearly Differences" tab:

In 1986, the lights on/door open "buzzer" changed to a "chime" for the XL and XLT Lariat models.

The standard pickup carried on with the buzzer.

(source: 1986 Ford F-Series brochure)

I noticed that you list 1983 as the year the "Lariat" name was dropped. How did you find this out? And, I wonder why that name wasn't used for 1983 and 1984?
