grumpin
I suspect a lot of tuning needs to be done with the 460. It has a Holley on it and I don't think there's been any jetting work done. But you can be sure the MPG is well south of 10, and maybe closer to 5. After some more driving, I've been getting 11.5 to 12.0 MPG with the new Holley. Driving 60-65 MPH. That's horrible to some, but better than before when I couldn't get over 9.0 MPG! I'm happy!

So you are doing quite well getting that with a C6. And, that is a good improvement.

Once I get the new 9.3:1 compression 466 in I will see what it gets.
grumpin
Horrible? 27.8 - 33.3% improvement! That makes it sound better! 65 MPH might be a stretch, 65 seems to be the speed that separates the MPG. IIRC I ran 70 and a little over and was down to 9 or less. I try to set the cruise at 63 or 64, sheez, splitting hairs and thinking too much!

There is a former Ford Engine Development Engineer, The Frenchtown Flyer, who has stated that the "magic" limiting point with our trucks is 62 mph. After which, the gas mileage goes downhill, fast! This is my truck being driven to and from Skiatook, OK.

Your visitor gets around, he called me today, he blew a water pump on the 460 halfway between Petersburg and South Hill VA on I-85. He wanted to know if I had a good source, he had already been through Advance, AutoZone and O'Reilly. He found one at NAPA, and was getting the truck towed back to Petersburg then had a bolt that wouldn't come out and manged to break the timing cover. He has a plan to get it roadworthy again.
