I will always have a spot in my heart for the Dentside trucks. My old man had a 1978 F150 4x4 for 10 years (until he bought a new 1988 F250 4x4). Bugger, he passed right over the Bullnose era on me...lol.

Still, if I had the money to just randomly buy trucks and fill my yard with them, I'd have a Dentside in the mix for sure.

My friend Scott, whom several on here met at the show last weekend, has a '78. I've helped him with it several times and I've been impressed how stout that truck is. It is an F150 and yet the tie rods are the size of Big Blue's, and far larger than those on Dad's truck. Steel inner fenders instead of plastic. And on and on.....

I like the Bullnose trucks, but the previous generations were made of heavier "stuff".

As someone that has owned many older trucks, absolutely. remember, the Bullnose marked the time when Ford was advertising MPGs. The sheet metal is a lot thinner on the Bullnoses as well as the frame ,etc. I'm guessing , many areas you never consider are made with weight savings in mind. As a person doing restoration and bodywork . . big difference from working on pre 1980 sheet metal and post 1980 . .big difference.
