Gauges look great :nabble_smiley_good:

Who did you get the bulbs thru and got part numbers?

Do they dim?

I got to pull my cluster back out and check the lights, I got lazy and did not replace them, and I think 1 or 2 are not working so might go LED's

On the light / wiper light I don't think it uses the 194 bulb (push in type), think it is a push in and turn type but could be wrong.

Do you have a light for the ash tray? Think some did and why I asked.

What is this shift light you talk of? Is it marked that way? I will have to check my cluster as I did not see this.

I know of the 4x4 light and I thought it had it's own harness for this?

Could the shift light be the same?

If it is a blank you can get the sockets (pig tail) to fit the opening and wire it up to a switch that say turns on back up lights or driving lights to know they are on.

Dave ----

edit: I know why I have not seen that, I don't have that part of the cluster on yet.

I have 1 light that comes on when I turn the key on to start it and had to go look what it was. Think it was for the seat belts or something like that, stays on for maybe 10 seconds or so.

Dave ----

Here's the entry from the Year-To-Year Differences page on the Electrical tab:

Up-shift indicator: There is some confusion here. The Master Parts Catalog shows that E3TZ 15A801-B (which should be marked E3TB 15A808-AA) is the "M/T w/up shift indicator". And it shows that to be for the "F150 (4x2) - - 6 cyl. 300 w/M/T fuel saver or TOD trans" for 1983 only. But, there is no mention of a shift indicator in the 1983 Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM). However, both the 1984 and 1985 EVTM's do show that a Shift Indicator Lamp was used in those years.

Haven't made it to the shop yet. Still drinking coffee. Will be by 10 and will check the light bulb spec.

Hi Dave, I got the LED's from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00Y1CFAB2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They come in a box of 20 (pic below) and to my surprise they do dim, I wasn't expecting that. the pic was with them all the way up which is just right for me.

The ash try has some light coming through a hole but it looks like it's just getting its light from the A/C and heat control panel I took a pic, it's coming out through the little round hole in the back.

The wiper light I'll have to dig into?

The shift light is on the left end of the bezel and the 4X4 is on the right but mine didn't even have the light sockets for the holes and the printed circuit doesn't even go to them, not even on the new one I got, but it come off an auto.

Maybe someone will have the answers for your other questions.. But here are more pics. Also the last one I put on a battery disconnect I got at Autozone it sure helped when I was wiring and trouble shooting the DS2 swap.

Yes the tach works great! but I need to look into the light for the wiper switch. I can't remember seeing light down there. Where do you find and new bulb?

We now have a page for electrical specification (Specifications/Electrical oddly enough) and it shows the bulbs for these trucks:

Headlight Switch and Wipe/Wash Switch Illumination #1815

Thank you Gary. It's just odd looking and not sure how to change it. I think I will take the screw out and see what happens.

Instrument cluster looks great. Did you remove the little blue lenses in the bulb sockets, or did you leave 'em in there with the new lights?

Hi Rembrant.. I took the lenses out. The one I got from e-bay had the blue lens and the one that come out of my truck had green. I never tried putting white LED's in with the lens covers it might have worked ok but I know mine with the green lens and stock bulbs were to dim.

Ok I pulled the light/wiper switch light. Looks like ford meant for it to last a lifetime!! I don't see any way to replace the bulb looks like one sealed unit. So the hunt will be on for a replacement though I'm not to confident on finding a working one. No big deal it hasn't worked in a lone time. I might just rig up a different kind of light, just have to see what's out there..

Never fear! That hood slides off. First, here's the one out of Dad's truck, all together:

And here's the hood part way off:

And, here's what's hiding inside:
