  1. Thanks Rusty, They shouldn't be corroded, all looks nice and clean in there as the bushings went in last summer. I will try some heat and a bigger hammer!
  2. Is there a "proper" way to remove the camber cast bushings? I installed the MOOG parts last summer on Espy (82 Bronco) and the camber is +3degrees on both sides. Finally a few days ago I pulled the passenger wheel off and tried to rotate the bushing but it would not budge so I put the wheel back on and decided to seek advice before I damage anything! Hoping I am just missing something obvious...

    Fixing Eddie

Always a pleasure to read your posts and see how much work you are putting into Eddie! The rear window probably just needs a service. the plastic guides the window scissors have at the end can wear out and inside the motor gearbox there are some plastic bits that wear and break. These can be serviced, I just swapped the whole motor and gear box on Espy.
  4. I couldn’t get hold a champion during Covid, so went on eBay and picked up a generic all Aluminum one for the Bronco. 4 years on and no issues. Was half the price of champion. Maybe pick one up and then you can warranty the champion?

I have done that blend door hinge on 2 vehicles. Even with the dash out it was a frustrating task!
  6. I have a Lightning and a 460! I can safely say the Lightning is an amazing truck and I use it to haul my 7300lbs Airstream. Most of the spots I go to are within 50 miles of my house so range is not an issue. I kept my 2013 Expedition for long trips though!
  7. Nothing strikes more fear into an owner of a project vehicle than driving down the parkway, cruising nicely, then looking at the instrument cluster as seeing your oil pressure idiot gauge just tanking! Well, long story short, as they say.. After checking the dipstick and there was oil, and the oil filter was still on and intact and there was signs of oil in the valve cover I did a bit of fudging with the sender wire, you know, grounding it and seeing the gauge peg to high, then crimping it and putting back on the sender and seeing pressure again I turned around and drove home. On the way home the pressure dived again, by this point I figured the sender was bad. I switched vehicles, drove to the part store for oil, filter and a sender unit. Got back home and did the oil change and sender swap. Good news, I have oil pressure again! Only issue is the sender is not a motorcraft part as there were none in stock in town, so I do need to order a an OEM one. Oil filter is motorcraft, oil is Mobil 1. During all of this, I also realized why my stereo keeps cutting out. I had a wild idea the passenger side sill plate where I ran the cables looked off, I pulled it up and sure enough the screw to the front had pierced the phono cable. I hadn’t taken care to tuck it aside. New cable set ordered. So the winter has passed, Espy has let me know she needs attention! Now to plow on through some more body work stuff and let’s see if I can get to that rear axle and tailgate this summer.
  8. venmo/paypall/Zelle seem to be what I see most people use these days
  9. Thanks Gary, I will torque it down. I also did an Oil Change on Espy - that went far more normally..
  10. Thank you! The old one was labeled 1/2–20 so I tried using a new one that I had to correct the threads, but it really bound up bad so I stopped. I ended up going to Ace Hardware and I bought a tap and carefully re-threaded. Once I had done that I tried using the new 1/2–20 drain plug, then I realized the threads have been stretched and I couldn’t use it so, I had to go to the store again and get a new one. I also picked up 2 quarts of cheaper oil and a magnet that extends so I fished around in the oil pan getting as much metal as possible, then flushed through with 2 quarts of the cheap oil, installed the new drain plug, which went well, then the 6 quarts of good oil went in. Then all seemed well with the world. 4.5 hours and six trips to various stores! But she’s all sorted and I won’t be lazy in the future. I will do all the oil changes every spring no matter what! *corrected many typos!
  11. Last spring I was lazy and took my F150 to a quick lube place for an oil change. This year as I’m doing all my oil changes I pulled the drain plug and this is what I see - half the threads are stripped. The bolt head says 1/2–20 so I go to the store and get another one, but The diameter of the threaded part is significantly wider than the old one. I’m not sure if this is just because it is new and has not been stripped, but I’m being very cautious as it didn’t seem to want to go in very easily and started binding. I tried putting the original stripped one back in but it was not going well so backed it out. What a mess! Any suggestions on how to proceed?
  12. Fantastic news. I have never set up a "go fund me", but that does seem to be a good idea. I would be happy to pay an annual subscription in support of this community too. Maybe we can have nice little additions to our profiles for "sponsors of the forum", like medals showing the sponsorship level or some such?
  13. WTH?!? So SORRY to hear that!! I don’t know about auctions organisms, but Rick got nice money with Hemmings for Lucille. Maybe more safe? Just had a nice long chat with a 65yo chap from Houston that is interested. He is looking for a forever truck, sounds like a nice fit. So of course I told him about all of you and the forum and sent him a link!
  14. We named her Elektra ! First towing experiment will be next friday, so I will post. The 3 horse trailer is no issue. the 7300lbs 25ft Airstream will be a test. Our normal tow vehicle is a 2013 Expedition Limited EL. It has no issue with either. Watch this space :)
  15. Popped in to add to the electric vehicle debate! I just bought a new 23 Lightning Lariat extended range. got it for $19.5k under MSRP including the 7500 fed rebate. The primary use for this vehicle is a commuter. My wife was spending $250 a month in gas for her commute with her LR3!! Additionally, she will use it to haul her 3 horse trailer around town to trailheads etc.. Finally, we will use it to pull our 2014 25ft Airstream, It has a GVWR of 7300lbs and puts ~850lbs on the tongue when fully loaded. Most of our camping is within 50 miles of our house here in Bend and mainly at RV parks.. I am excited too see how this all goes..
