  1. I agree with Ralph that it happens but not radical, noticeable. I don't trust these fuel quantity systems. Never trusted my 1974 F250, 1986 F250 or 1988 F250 (7.3). My 1992 Bronco and 1994 F250 were and are the only ones I trusted. I never had enough faith or desire to try to fix them, went by mileage or oops better flip the switch. The best way I see to fix them is with the Meter Match that Gary is using.
  2. The way these gauges "work", I'd think it's from sloshing fuel, if the other gauges aren't affected as Gary said.
  3. The Ford's I had with dual tanks were a 390, two 460's and a 7.3 diesel. They were daily drivers so I didn't have to worry about gas sitting in the tanks! That's cool you have dual tanks on your Flareside! Give you some range.
  4. Ouch! I hate when that happens! I'm kind of surprised the big six did that. Are you going to put a rebuilt in there?
  5. I wrote that last September, after getting the new, smaller street tires and getting rid of almost all of my tire noise. After another ~5,000 miles the noise was getting worse, so I finally got around to getting to the bottom of it. Turns out it is a bad wheel bearing. There's a lot of freeplay in the passenger's side bearing. The driver's side feels tight (it spins freely, just no freeplay). So I'm debating only replacing the bad one as getting the old bearing off looks like it won't be any fun. I did pull both axle shafts, so I'm that far on both sides. (And this is a Ford 9" axle, for anyone keeping score) A lot of gear lube ran out of both sides, so I know the bearings are getting lube. And the lube was surprisingly clean. Not fresh and yellowish, but not pure black either, and no sparkles. I don't have a drain plug, so I'm thinking I won't pull the third member to drain the rest of the lube, but just top it off with fresh stuff. I know I'm talking about taking shortcuts here with only replacing 1 bearing and not changing the lube. Does anyone want to try to talk me out of that? ^ What Gary said!
  6. I like the QJet, and had more trouble with a Carter than a Holley. Luck of the draw sometimes. I changed an old Bosch fuel injection system to Solex carbs on a VW Squareback and that worked out well. Probably would have liked the Bosch FI if I had time, patience, manuals and test equipment.

  8. Man, that's strange to me. How's the tank vent? Have you tried loosening the gas cap or taking it off when it's doing it?
  9. What about your fuel pump? Have you checked or changed it?
  10. Good to hear from you. Yeah, too bad about the car show. Fires are no fun. We were doing ok this year then had one start about 30 miles east of us. Evacuated a bunch of homes. Mostly under control now. Enjoy the 94!
  11. I would not pick that color blue, I'm not good at picturing how something will look, be it paint, home decor or whatever. But, I like it, looks really good! Good job!
  12. I thought about an inverter at one time, and thought I'd have a dedicated battery for it. Wouldn't drain the truck battery if the truck wasn't running. You'se guys are talking about some cool stuff! I figured if I needed 1500 watts, I'd get a 3000 watt inverter. Larry has a good point about a pure sine inverter.
