  1. But that's the question why does a 07 1500 pull it I was hoping someone had a suggestion of how much weight to add to make the f150 at least pull a trailer without fishtailing I had a 1970 f100 same drive train it went off road without a issue this truck also with a 9" 355 gears is worthless on wet grass . I guess I will have to scale a older better built truck to see where weight is positioned.
  2. The f350 is the main work horse but I don't like owning trucks that can't work I wonder does anyone have any suggestions how to add weight to these light weight trucks to where they might be usable as a truck ?
  3. If this truck has thought me anything it was to never buy a f150 ever again. And stay away from 80-96 truck they are just to light the f350 which should be more than heavy enough can't even pull a boat out of water we had to drag my f350 up the boat ramp with a dodge 1500 because the f350 just spun tried a less steep ramp and almost the same result but with 5 adults at front of boat the truck barely pulled up the ramp
  4. So yes this is a heavy trailer it was built by my wife's cousin who at the time had been professionally building trailers for years I've compared the axle placement to different company trailers and the axle is correctly placed empty this trailer squats my truck 1/2 a inch so I figure this trailer is 2500 pounds so I'm 220 pounds and me standing on bumper doesn't squat that much. I am a professional steering wheel holder and been pulling personal size trailers since I was 16 so I know how to handle a trailer and it takes a lot of skill to pull this trailer with this p.o.s truck
  5. It does it empty or loaded the trailer is definitely long but a 07 dodge 1500 can pull it but online says that 07 is around 700 pounds heavier
  6. 84 f150 lwb 2wd 300 six 4 speed 355 gears .the issue I'm having is massive unsafe trailer sway . the trailer is a tilt deck flat bed 24 foot deck above 45 it's all over the road empty or loaded in the past year new rear leaf springs new front coils all new bushings recently installed 9" the 8.8 died . my friend 07 dodge v6 long bed can pull it 75 mph . I'm wondering why this truck is so worthless and dangerous. Is it the truck being to light ? A f250 would be considerably heavier as far as weight is concerned my crew cab f350 single wheel can pull trailer but can't pull a boat up a dock just spins are the bullnose and obs just to light ? Would adding weight to trucks help the 84 f150 gets stuck on wet grass the f350 also spins easily .
  7. figured I would chime in on loaded mpg . I was at show with the brown truck with a loaded trailer . I drove 128 miles to the show start mileage 74169 end 74292 fueled at casino 13.224 gallon fill up for a loaded mpg of 9.67 average top speed 55 to squirrelly above that speed headed home same load start 74292 end 74423 total miles 131 with a fill up of 13.154 gallons for a mpg 9.95 .Not sure how much I was pulling but i figured around 5000 to 6000 pounds with trailer being 2000 of those pounds
  8. On my 1984 f150 the spot above the color code is blank does this mean it was a special order color ? It's a solid brown truck but has a sparkle to the brown .
  9. Thank you guys I will look up the places you guys suggested I started going over the birds nest of wiring today it's a real mess I think the fuel pump relay is bad the previous owners have a aftermarket fuel pump hooked to the wire coming from tank selector switch and there was a hose clamp missing on a fuel line glad I hadn't tried driving it yet !!
  10. The listings I am seeing on eBay for color coded wiring is 20 gauge is that to thin ? And where or what type of biz would you recommend I look locally for that might have color coded wires .
  11. Okay guys I have a 1985 F250 single cab long bed dual tank 460 carbureted with electric fuel pumps in the tank the wiring is a complete disaster from the relays all the way to the pumps which don't work ( has crudely mounted frame pump) ! I want to rewire the entire fuel pump harness from the relays back to the rear tank ..... I have been pouring over the wiring diagrams and I want to replace the wiring with color correct wires what gauge wire would you guys recommend mind you it will be running a fuel pump that is 10 feet from the relay . And in case you're wondering I need a brown /white stripe....solid red both power wires....sending unit wires yellow /blue stripe stripe..&yellow/white stripe
  12. Hey guys I'm Timothy new to site not to carburetor Ford's. I don't like fuel injection. I have several bullnose Ford's got back into the 80-86 trucks after 6 years daily driving a 1970 f100. My trucks are not trailer Queens after looking at cost of upgrading the 1970 with a/c disc brakes and fixing rust it would cost thousands...i told wife I was going to get a newer vehicle I bought a 85 f150 body pretty clean but chewed up wiring and buckled suspension I was looking for parts to install my 300 six from the 70 into the 85 f150 I found a rusty blown up 300 six 84 f150 drove 3 hours in the 70 to get the 84 it was mechanically so original and interior was really decent so the 84 got the good 300 engine the 85 got to be a parts truck? Then bought a 85 460 4x4 4 speed f250 3 weeks ago to pull gooseneck and other trailers it needs some attention!!! Then I found a 82 f150 CHEAP suppose to have a bad 300 six engine auto trans but it's parts are needed for the 84 daily and the 85 work truck ..... My wife says I'm a horder!!!
