  1. Not a lot to show for the day, but still chipping away. Got the evap unit in the plenum and the cover on with The Right Stuff sealing it all but with PAM ensuring TRS doesn't stick to the aluminum foil tape. But, there was a downside I'd not thought of - TRS won't stick to the parts, so it is hard to get it in the right place. In fact, I had to put the plenum in a position where most of the joints were horizontal. But, I did get it in and the cover on and clamped, as shown here: Then I turned to the condenser, which had been hitting the radiator support. Had thought about cutting one or the other, but instead moved the brace up by re-drilling the screw holes as shown here: That let me put the condenser in, and then the radiator in. That clears the way for installing the shroud and fan, which then means I can install the belts. Maybe tomorrow.
  2. What color are your two printed circuits? The odd one is the 1980 one. So you should be good with the other one. But your original printed circuit doesn't have the tach connections? If so, you could put eye terminals under the nuts and wire into the harness the other side of the connector. It would be a pain, but it has been done.
  3. Check this out: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1028455-howto-81-86-gauge-cluster-in-80-model-gauge-models-only.html#post9810375
  4. Matt - Yes, there were some changes for some of 1980 trucks vs the 1981 - 86 trucks. The differences I remember were for the warning lights in the cluster. They were in different places. I just looked at the 1980 EVTM and I cannot tell from it what was changed because the circuits are still the same, they just put things in different places. I think there's a post on FTE about this, and I can look. But do you really have a 1980 instrument cluster?
  5. Stanley Morton. The shop is called STK. And his daughter works there. Maybe runs it by now. Tim is Tim Meyer of TMeyer, Inc. Yes, I have both a mill and a lathe. I'm not all that good with either, but I can get it done eventually.
  6. Thanks, guys. I was pretty upset yesterday when it went down, and then I realized that I don't have any way to email y'all to tell you that the forum is down. I think I've come up with a way to do that and some of you know 'cause I just emailed you to test it. So, in future I should be able to communicate with you if, perish the thought, we have another outage. As for "all I do", it has become a bit more time-consuming than I expected, what with backups, photo contests, coaching members to "be nice", admitting new members, etc. Fortunately we have the other admin's that really help. But, if someone else wants to step up to take some aspect of it PLEASE let me know. I started this forum not quite two years ago, but never dreamed it would take off like it has. We now have a LOT of valuable information that people are looking for, and we've grown into one of the mainline forums for these trucks. So we now need to be thinking "big time", such as the for-pay server, email warnings if there is a problem, etc. But, the goal is still the same: A forum where we can all have fun, get help, and hang out - w/o fees and advertising. And the ability to chart our own destiny w/o "corporate" telling us what we are going to do.
  7. Yes: AE2AZ 12A699-A Sensor assy, (spark knock intensity) Marked as #E2AF 12A699-AA
  8. I looked it up. I used Stanley Morton/STK. They didn’t follow the directions on the cam bearing from Tim and messed something else up that Tim had to fix. And Brandon had this to say; I cant recommend Lucitos Machine where my rotating assembly is. They apparently wont work on it if I don't harass them. I have heard from plenty of people they do great work, even Weingartner swears by them, but block should be out of there by now. They apparently build a lot of dirt track motors and that is probably their bread and butter on the automotive side, but they need to use some kind of order to their work.
  9. John - I can get the names of the two shops we tried it that would help. As for Big Blue, the 460’s didn’t go poly groove until much later - probably when they went to EFI. So I’m changing that as well as lots and lots of other details. Should be a much different truck when I’m done. 🤪
  10. Gary, I don't know of any virtual truck shows...I guess you're venturing out into new territory here. I was look at this Canadian truck club below, and they posted pictures from various events and shows...obviously after the fact, but you could do something similar as the main event. Just pick an event in the Club Event Photo Gallery section linked below. Some nice old Fords there too. http://www.fordtruckclub.com/PhotoGalleries.html Ok folks, we are now almost exactly two months after we last posted about this idea. And, we are two months and about two weeks from the date of the show. I think we need to make a decision by the 19th of this month as that will be exactly two months from the date of the show and I need the time to prepare for whatever is decided. So we basically have two weeks to make the decision. If I had to decide today I'd say we should have a virtual show, meaning we won't have the truck show "in person" this year. I say that because it is my impression that the spread of the virus is accelerating rapidly instead of slowing. And I just read this article that says 65% of Americans agree with me. In fact other countries certainly agree as the EU has just decided that we Yanks cannot travel to Europe. Further, the borders to/from Canada & Mexico are closed for non-essential travel, and that closure keeps getting renewed. But, I would like to see your thoughts.
  11. If it is what they say it is then it should be E3TZ 18552-B. But we can only see the "E3TZ" in the pic, and they give us only "185" of the part number. So it is hard to tell. But the '83 cable is a one-year wonder, so if this is it then it isn't a bad price. Compare the ends of your cable to the pics of this one's ends to ensure it is the right one.
  12. Yep, that's how I did Big Blue's, as shown below. But it does take some fiddling to get the hoses to lay properly.
  13. As shown below, the true '82 grille was E2TZ-A, but it was replaced with this grille (E3TZ-G) later, probably when the '82 grille was out of stock. I do not know the difference, and doubt anyone but Bill/Numberdummy does. This one isn't priced badly, but that crack would worry me.
  14. Here are the carry-over pics from last month. Please submit pics of your truck so we can start the voting on or about the 15th: Angelo's father's red w/a bull bar: Brian/Dee's Bullnose and his daily driver: Steve/Old55pete's 86 Bronco: And Myrl/myrl883's Parts Truck:
  15. Glad it is going so well! Glad that fitting worked out. But I fully understand about the bend. Things are pretty tight right there and the bends have to be tweaked a bit to get things to line up nicely. You did put the return from the steering box down the straight side of the tee - right?
  16. Congratulations to David/1986F150Six! Your truck's picture has won the July 2020 month photo contest!
  17. Folks - As you are probably aware, yesterday this forum was down essentially all day. That's because the server on which our forum is hosted crashed and it took them that long to get it back up. I apologize for the outage, but that was out of my control. Unfortunately server crashes happen. However, commercial hosting platforms usually have ways to get servers back up quickly. But we've not been running on a commercially-hosted platform. Instead we've been running on a free platform for the last two years. As it turns out we've been working on moving the forum to a commercial platform for some time, and yesterday's outage has only heightened the resolve to do that. So stay tuned for an announcement on that subject, hopefully soon. Again, sorry for the outage.
  18. Sounds quite reasonable! Phil/Bo has asked me to post these pics for him. But, Phil, they are pretty low resolution so when I make them fairly large so we can see them they aren't going to be very crisp. If you want to send others just email them to me and I'll add them. Overall, if I were close to Nashville I'd be there with my trailer!
  19. Didn't you tell us, long ago, that your Dad would drill a small hole and lubricate blower motor bearings? Everything looks good! Yep. When I got his truck the front/outside bearing had been lubed that way. But I didn't do that on this one. It is a NAPA replacement and runs very smoothly. But while I had the fan off I sat the motor in the vise so the shaft was vertical and put some light machine oil on the bearing and moved the shaft up and down. Then I let it sit on there to seep in and later wiped the excess off. Anyway, thanks! When I get the side cover sealed I'll be ready to install it. Just have to get the gaskets from James at Detroit Muscle Technologies. I guess I haven't related that story here. I had a particularly bad time communicating with James, which you can read about here. But that appears to be due to two things: First, he's swamped due to everyone staying home due to the virus and working on projects; second because he is relying on people ordering from the website, but I just wanted two pieces that he didn't have listed separately so I couldn't order them. In the end he is sending them gratis.
  20. Sometimes one has to cut one's losses and let go. That's basically where I am. They are going to have to baby it to get it to Charleston, but I'm pretty sure it'll do it. Then it'll be fine driving around town there.
  21. That's pretty neat. I think it could be used to hide imperfections in a dash pad repair. Somebody needs to try this!
  22. I like it as well, but dunno 'bout the "factory lift" either. And, I'm also confused about "many new parts including clutch and pressure plate". Huh!? There's no clutch pedal and he says "AT" elsewhere. Nice truck but confused seller.
