  1. Yes, I'd check to see if it is there. I'm betting it is. I wouldn't pull things apart to find out.
  2. Looks like a winner to me, but I'm certainly no expert on A/C compressors.
  3. If I remember correctly the cross shaft for the clutch pedal, or at least the arm on the end of it, is different.
  4. Thanks! I just ordered that IWISS crimper on your recommendation. Should be here Friday. So while we have errands to run tomorrow, I'll wait to do those last three terminals until the crimper comes in. And I'll give your process a go.
  5. Well, I used this terminal kit for the first time today. I like the connectors, but... My crimper is NOT the right one for these terminals. It didn't provide a tight crimp of either the wire nor the insulation. So I'm on the prowl for the right crimper. Recommendations? Given that my crimper didn't work I soldered the pins on the wires today and crimped the insulation lugs with pliers. It worked, but I would like to try crimping.

They do... But the end has a press in pin. I should have just cut the end off, or removed the pin. I drilled the hole off measurements I got somewhere. Ahhh, that makes sense. (Don't drill before getting the part. ) On the exhaust, I like Magnaflow mufflers.
  7. Ok, another picture, but maybe less of a rat's nest. I added a couple more connectors and basically there's only a few more connectors to add before starting the job of extending all of those wires with the white tags in the bottom center into the cab. And, I put the bottom cover on the PDB, snapped the PDB onto the bracket, and then snapped C101 onto the tongue that sticks off the bracket just for it. C101 connects to the engine harness that is already in place. And all but two of the other connectors plug into original '85 connectors that are already there. The two that don't connect to something that is already there are the flat weatherpack style connector in the bottom center and the round connector that has the red wire laying across it. The latter goes to the harness for the O2 sensors, and I have to make it when I get the box installed and know where it'll run. The weatherpack connector goes to the fog lights and backup lights, and I have to put pins on three wires that are under the hood and pop them into that connector. And I have to run those two red wires that are shown coming out of it to the power wire going to the fog lights - there are two wires as the pins on the connector are only good for 12A each, so I used two of them to power the lights. I'll report more on my experience with the weatherpack connectors in the other thread, but I will say here that my crimper is NOT the right one for those terminals, in spite of it being for that size of wire. It doesn't come close to giving a tight crimp nor capturing the insulation. So I'm on the lookout for the right crimper. Meanwhile I'm soldering the wires to the terminals and that is working well, albeit fiddly.

Yes, that would have taken a skinny flair wrench. And I doubt you got 20 MPG, so you did have a glitch somewhere. But you'll get it dialed in. Mirrors look good. But the seal is, as you said, wonky. I thought they had adhesive on them?
  9. I think it is fair to say that a feedback carb is a YFA, but not all YFA's are feedback carbs.
  10. I used several "SetX" combo's in the front of both Dad's truck awa Big Blue and was happy. But I don't remember the #'s. I assume your parking brake cables are good? Otherwise I think you have a good list.
  11. I'm not so sure, Bill. The plug looks to have two right-angle corners and two 45's. The hole on the right of the cowl doesn't seem to have any right-angle corners and the run across the bottom has a dog-leg in it.
  12. Well, while I know you feel this is a setback, in reality you are taking two steps forward and only one back. So it is progress. I don't have a recommendation on a kit of bearings. I had to buy piecemeal as well, but I checked numbers on Rock Auto's site. Didn't buy from them as I got name brand bearings from Amazon for less, more quickly, and with far less hassle on returns. But RA's catalog is excellent. On the lube, I grease axle bearings before installing them. My theory is that the oil will eventually melt the grease, but that there's nothing in the grease that will hurt the diff. So until the oil gets there they are lubed. But you should have had oil up there when you pulled it apart. Have you checked the oil level in the diff? I've never pulled one apart that didn't have oil everywhere. And on the studs, I would certainly go with RH threads. No one is installing LF threads anymore that I'm aware of, and they obviously aren't required or 99% of the left side wheels would be falling off.
  13. You are now on the map. Interesting country there. Been around it and through it quite a bit on our way to/from other places in Colorado. And we rode the Chama/Antonito train - as well as the Durango/Silverton one several times.
  14. I changed studs using a press, but if I were you I'd put several nuts on a stud so it can't bend and smack the end one with the sledge. If you get it to move then you can back off on the nuts. And I installed the studs by whacking them to get them started and pulling them in with nuts and washers.
  15. Welcome! Glad you joined. What part of CO? I ask because we have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and we can put you on with a city or zip. Nice Bronco! You should start a thread in the main section to tell us all about it and what you do to it.
  16. Can you post a pic of how it attaches to the carb?
  17. If the end of the TV cable goes to a ball then you could drill the linkage and add one. But I don't know how it attaches.
  18. The size should be shown on the outside of the drum. As for rebuilding the tranny, might you consider a ZF5? It'll take the kit from Tim Meyer to make it fit an M-Block, but Tim's kit works well. (AMHIK)
  19. I'm not sure what that means, but as my father would have said, "If that's a compliment then I thank you."
  20. If not for the fact that the seating is being rethought, Big Blue would be an excellent candidate! Yes, but his are in good shape. I just looked as the bench is sitting on the shop floor. And, I pick up the buckets in about 4 weeks.
  21. Here's what the openings in the cowl look like. Your plug may fit the outer holes. However, your plug appears to rectangular save for that one angle and the outside holes aren't. So if it doesn't fit there then I don't think it is from your truck. I've looked all of the other openings in Dad's cab and there's nothing shaped like that. The only possibility is that maybe since Dad's is an '81 and yours is an '86 something changed?
  22. Never! Those are for 1983 and later F-Series with a blue interior.
