  1. You make a valid point. I'm still looking for the D60..... Called my brother and asked him to ask his sons to look. Both are exceptionally good at finding things, and he figured one of them would have the truck located by nightfall. And then posted this on four Ford truck Facebook pages:
  2. Right. It is disconcerting for someone who is in a business where they should know better to be wrong. But worse yet to tell me that I don't know what I have when he hasn't seen it. I guess I'm still hung up on them saying the application for the 85-91 Ford F-350 4x4 2" Front Shackle Reversal (OBS Spring) kit is: I think there are two issues with that. First, it doesn't really matter that the "truck" is an F350. The kit will bolt on an F250 frame. The key is that you are using those springs and an 85-97 D60. But the other issue is the "F-250 4x4 with TTB" bit. Are they saying it'll work w/my TTB's and the F350 or SuperDuty springs? Or, is their website wrong and it will only work with the D50? I'm asking as I'm not to hung up on getting a D60. So if their kit paired with either F350 or SuperDuty springs would give me a bit of lift and the improved ride maybe I'd be happy.
  3. No prob, Jim. As an update, the guy from the salvage called and they can't find the D60 w/a 3.54 gear in it. Plus, the truck that was said to have the 4.10 D60 probably has only the cross member and little else. They are going to keep looking for the D60, but it looks like it is time to expand the search quite a bit. I'll hit social media as well as ask my nephews to look. And yesterday I sent this to Sky Off Road Design in an effort to get my head around their kit: And today I got back: To which I responded: And the pics I attached were these, showing that Big Blue has the internal clips on the front u-joints, which says proves it is a D44. (Disregard the "light duty" F250 designation he mentions as that isn't quite correct.)
  4. Ray - I'm not suggesting changing anything. Instead, I'm trying to explain what the various folders are intended for.
  5. I was recently asked what the proper/best way to use the forum. In other words, where should various things be posted. And later I was asked about the use of the Projects folder vs the main section of the forum. So that got me to thinking, and a dim vision of how I envision the various parts of the forum is emerging from the fog. Here are some of my thoughts on the 10 folders we have pinned to the top of the main page, but I'd like to see yours on them as well. And after we get this sorted out maybe this becomes a new part of the FAQ's. New Members Start Here - Read The Guidelines & Post A Blurb About Yourself: This is where our guidelines are posted, and it is hoped every new member will read the guidelines and start a thread/topic to introduce themselves and their truck(s). And while there is nothing that says "don't troubleshoot here", that really wasn't the purpose of the folder.Resources: This is supposed to be a list of resources we've found or have, such as links to other sites with info or vendors, lists of books available, or those who have special skills that are willing to help others. It is locked such that only admin's can create a new topic, edit a topic, or respond to oneProjects: This folder is intended for any of us to have a place where we can document what we are doing or going to do w/o responses cluttering up things. In other words, anyone can create a topic and lock it such that no one can respond. But, it doesn't have to be that as you do not have to lock it and then others can respond.I use this to think about what I'm going to do on things like the Upgrades To Big Blue. There you can see my plans for the truck, but you can't respond. That gives me a "whiteboard" where I keep track of things, and I can go back and edit it at any time.Garage/Shop & Tools: An open folder where people can post about things relating to their garage, shop, or tools.eBay & Craigslist Finds: An open folder where people can post what they've found for sale and in which others might have an interest. For Sale, Trade, or Free To A Good Home: The place to post things you have and are willing to sell, trade, or give away.Picture Gallery: As the intro says, I'm not 100% sold on having that folder, but we are using it to hold pics of our trucks, so why not keep it. However, what are your thoughts?2018 Garagemahal Ford Truck Show Planning: This needs to change to either "Show Planning" and have a folder under it for each year, or make it the current year, such as "2019 Show..." I'll work on that soon.Quarantined Threads & Posts: This is where posts that don't meet our guidelines go - after the author has been given a chance to correct it and hasn't. Or, spam. Fortunately we've not had any of the former, and only one of the latter. And only admins can see into it.Want To Buy: Open to all members to post what they are looking for. So, what are your thoughts? Does this explain how to use the various folders? Are changes needed to these writeups?
  6. I wish I'd kept all the stuff I gave away off of Huck. Anyway, I'll keep my eyes open for you.
  7. Yes, wow! Nice offer. As for the springs, he just used stock 4wd springs? What did that do to the ride?
  8. I think LMC might have 7526. But go to the part number tab and you can get Ford's part number and search for it on line. However, 358980 does not have a part number other than 35890. But, it is just a spring washer, as shown in the parts list.
  9. Good progress, Ray. And, as Jim says, progress is good! But I'm not sure exactly what you are talking about with the "washer looking thing". However, the illustrations are here, and they should help: Driveline/Clutches & Linkage.
  10. I don't really have any experience here. And, like Bill, I'm jumping from a carb to an EEC-V system with MAF & SEFI. But, I've done a fair amount of reading and most of that says that an EEC-IV Speed Density system with bank fire does almost as well as a MAF/SEFI system if everything is close to stock. It is only when you change something(s) enough that the air flow through the engine isn't what the computer expects that you run into problems. And that can include a radical cam, headers, or a significant upgrade in the heads. So, if you are staying fairly stock then I doubt there would be enough benefit to a MAF/SEFI system to warrant the change. But if you are doing a significant upgrade then maybe it would help.
  11. Shaun - You said "with the stock hangars you already have". Do you mean I can use that kit on Big Blue's D44HD TTB's? Or, are you thinking when I get an F350's D60 and springs? The Application tab says: That confuses me 'cause it says that the kit works on an F350. But then it seems to say it'll work on an F250 with TTB's.
  12. Cool! That is amazing. We need some pics.
  13. So 350 + RSK would be a good combo. But there's a low profile RSK kit? Do I remember that correctly? I don't need 4" of lift as that will put the front level with or slightly higher than the rear. Unless I put 350 blocks on the rear?
  14. So, is the order of "plushness" this, from worst to best, and including the range of lift? Given that, is the F350 axle/spring combo a significant improvement? Or is it really best to do the RSK? If so, what about an RSK for the F250 springs?
  15. Yes, and Skiatook fits right in. By the way, Arkalalah is Ark City's Fall/harvest festival.
  16. He's responded that he will take it back, so I'll get it boxed up and off. And, here's the status of my searching to this point for the cross member and D60+suspension: I've found the cross member for $50 at a fairly local salvage, and she (Kathy) thinks they can cut the frame right behind the cross member and give me that so I can remove it carefully. But, it is in a WET area right now and we are to get more rain soon, so it'll be a while before they can get in there. Plus, it's been there for several years so isn't going away any time soon. And, while they don't have the '86-'97 D60 & suspension bits I'm looking for, they do have a '05 F350 SuperDuty w/a D60. However, it is my understanding that that's going to have the different bolt pattern, so my wheels won't fit. And, the rear axle is gone, so I couldn't swap if I wanted to, so that's not really an option. But, there are the springs..... I found a salvage about 3 1/2 hours away that has a 3.54 D60 axle, but it doesn't have the suspension bits. However, they also have an '88 F350 w/a 4.10 D60. And, since it was a 460 truck it'll have the right cross member. So, I've asked if they can cut the frame behind the cross member and give me the front section, but swap axles. That would give me all the bits for the suspension as well as the cross member in one package. They were to have called back a few hours ago, so I'm not sure that's going to work out. Anyway, I have a cross member available and may have found the whole shooting match. But, when doing this would there be an advantage in getting the SuperDuty springs?
  17. That's cool! I've gotten started re-thinking the plans I've/we've laid in the Upgrades For Big Blue project thread, and to make it a bit more "evergreen" I added the spreadsheet I'm using for determining what wires go where to the ECU. That way any changes made in the spreadsheet will automagically show up in this post. And, I see that there are other things that need to change in the project thread. But, I'll get there.
  18. Will they be marching in Arkalalah? We might be up, dunno. Anyway, you are on the map!
  19. Wichita! The only place that pronounces the name of the "big" river as R-Kansas instead of R-Kansaw as the rest of the US does. (That's from a guy whose home town is pronounced R-Kansas City.) After graduation from college, exactly 50 years ago today plus/minus a week or two, we moved to Wichita. So I'm quite familiar with the area. Or was, decades ago. But, you are CLOSE! You'll have to come to the Garagemahal Ford Truck Show & Swap Meet on Sept 21st. It'll be here in Skiatook, just north of T-town. Just come down the turnpike, get off at Tonkawa and come across 60 to Pawhuska. Then south on 99 to Hominy, left on 20 and in ~20 miles, after crossing the lake, you'll be here. There will be lots of guys from on the forum here. So, would you like to be on the member's map? (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu.) Wichita? Derby? Haysville? Rosehill?
  20. Oh, what's the white stuff on the ground? How's the truck do in that? As for BAS, you are in good company. Lots and lots of it around. I have 2 35/6's Bullnoses. (I have two "complete" trucks and parts from many, many others.) And there's no stupid question except for that unasked. But, I wish there were stupid questions as I have a ton of stupid answers. Seriously, none of us were born knowing what we know. Some, like me, are late comers to the Bullnose trucks, and others have been around them much longer. But we all love to help others, so you are in the right place. And, it is wonderful if your daughter wants to help on your truck. That would be awesome! By the way, you are on the map.
  21. Yes, I'd say that the Ranger has grown. Looks good. And stout.
  22. Duh! A dashpot created via software. I'm with you now. If the engine stumbles after blipping the throttle I could try that.
  23. Hi Jay. We. too, have an addiction. Where's home? We have a member's map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map) and I'd be happy to add you. Perhaps someone else is close to you and can help? Anyway, I'm glad you have your grandfather's truck. Being a grandfather myself that is a wonderful story. As for the tanks, new ones aren't expensive and might be a good solution.
  24. Ok, but I don't have a dashpot. Does Darth?
