  2. Mike - It has been a number of years, and since I turn 72 tomorrow I think I can legitimately claim that my rememberer used to work better, but I'm not sure as I don't remember. But if I remember correctly, inside there was just a sliding valve that lined up with a lot of passages, depending on the position. And by cleaning the old grease out and using new grease I was able to get some "feel" back in it. I think it was held together with melted plastic that came through the removable piece, and I cut those off smooth and drilled them to accept very small sheet metal screws and washer to reassemble it.
  3. You are now on the map! Glad you have a 400. Hopefully it is the pistons rusted to the walls that has it locked up and the crank is still good. That and a few TMeyer goodies will make it a stump-puller with a lot less weight than a 460. Speaking of Tim, he plans to be at the show and swap meet here in Skiatook on Sept 21st, as do several from on here. Why not come up to meet him and us? I'll be created a new page for the info about the show soon.
  4. Good question. I didn't see what the box said until you asked. An EOTZ 18549-D is: 80 F100/350 — w/o aux. fuel tank & with Hi-Low vent A control for Hi-Low Vent would have a Vent position on it, which this one doesn't have, so I'm pretty sure this one isn't a -D

  6. Yes, welcome! A Bronco, and an '80 at that! Love it. On the 351M, don't let anyone tell you it is a dog. I had one that was really strong. But, if you ever want to rebuild it just slip a 400 crank and pistons in and call it a stroked 351M. By the way, where's home? What part of Tejas? We have a member's map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and I'd love to add you to it if I had a town/city.
  7. Ok guys, you've convinced me I was right - don't do a steering stabilizer now. I can always add it if needed, but I don't think I will.
  8. Gary will have to confirm this is the right piece: https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-1980-89-FORD-TRUCK-REAR-CAB-PANEL-F100-350/223125760396?epid=20021457856&hash=item33f354e98c:g:cTYAAOSwJRxbSmze How doe this compare to the horn pad you have? https://www.ebay.com/itm/78-86-F150-F250-Bronco-Steering-Wheel-Horn-Pad-F150-F250-Lariat-Cruise-e150/113741526941?hash=item1a7b85f79d:g:6X0AAOSwasRc0zXi David - That is the right Panel (Back) for the bed. ckuske - It is looking good! Good job testing and fixing the gauges. And they look good as well.
  9. Nice find! David did good! I don't know about the color for the FORD on the tailgate. Not sure where to find that, either.

  11. Note that -L has black paint and -B has dark charcoal. They are not a matched pair if the part numbers are correct. 80/86 F—U100/350 (RH) EOTZ 13064—L (LH) EOTZ 13064-M Chromed-trimmed w/black paint has locating hole-(use w/basic 13200 w/locating hole) 82/86 F-U100/350 — w/bright grille option (RH) E2TZ 13064-A (LH) E2TZ 13064-B chromed-trimmed w/dark charcoal paint

  14. Jim - I like that analogy. In fact, as I think about it I think it is the perfect analogy. I think we've discussed it but in graduate school, which I didn't finish, I had a class called Parallel Systems. There is an excellent parallel between mechanical and electrical, as well as pneumatic, systems. Anyway, what you said makes sense to me. But, what are your thoughts about having one for my purposes? Or, by saying "resonance at some speed" are you implying that since I won't have much speed when I hit bumps I probably won't have problems? Bob - Yes, that makes more sense, and is what I thought. Thanks for the clarification.
  15. I don't. 'Tis a shame s/he didn't include the number off the box. And for that much money I can't see anyone gambling. Perhaps a note to the seller to see if there's a number on the box?
  16. I've generally heard that steering dampers only mask other problems (and they don't always even do that well). So I've never been a huge proponent. I can't say for sure that I've never owned a vehicle that didn't have a factory damper, but can't think of one that's had one and I know I've never put one on a vehicle.I guess I could see some potential benefit to it if you were running really big tires or something. But with essentially stock size F-250/F-350 tires and all new steering linkage I don't think you'll need it.I'm not sure what you meant by "I can't say for sure that I've never owned a vehicle that didn't have a factory damper, but can't think of one that's had one and I know I've never put one on a vehicle." Is there maybe one too many negatives? Did you mean to say "I can't say for sure that I've never owned a vehicle that had a factory damper...."?Otherwise, I think we are in agreement that they mask the problems, and with all new components I shouldn't have any thereof.
  17. We spent the morning in T-Town. Janey had an eye checkup and got a good report. Then to breakfast and then to Utica Square, where she shopped and I sat at Starbucks and worked on my parts list of u-joints, ball joints, tie rod ends, and bearings to order. (See the spreadsheet in Post #1, which always reflects where I am with the planning.) And along the way I found that Moog has a steering damper kit for the '95 F350. And that got me to wondering about installing a damper. What are your thoughts? Then we went to Boom's Garage and dropped off the D60. Here's a pic of Chris, with the D60 in the foreground, and the Land Rover he's working on for a customer. He figures it'll be 2 - 3 weeks on the D60 rebuild, and it is a complete rebuild on the diff, inc all new bearings, seals, and gears plus the locker. And, it'll carry a warranty.
