  1. the pile of parts is still for sale. 3k or best offer. otherwise its gonna go to the salvage yard
  2. so ive been looking for a bullnose around me on fb marketplace, since my project truck is only really good for parts and i keep seeing the same truck and engine combos being sold super cheap, fixed or unfixed they all seem to be the 1986 ford with the first gen efi 5.0\302 engines. havent seen any 4wds yet sadly but alot of the 2wd trucks. is there some sort of known issue with that year and engine? just seems odd that people are dumping these suddenly. its always the 1985 5.0 or is it just coincidence?
  3. I believe the F-150s and F-250s got OBD2 in '96 when it became mandatory. But most F-250HDs and F-350s didn't get OBD2 until the SuperDuty came out in '99. California trucks might be an exception, but I know my '97 F-250HD is still EEC-IV. In a lot of ways the '92 - '97 are really the best of the '80s and '90s F-series (looks is definitely NOT one of those way as far as I'm concerned). I'm certainly not putting down the earlier versions, but Ford didn't screw anything up too bad in this time frame as they added refinements. You can argue that more electronics is a bad thing. By that argument the early '80s were the best. But if you want EFI and automatic transmissions that have overdrive and a lock-up torque converter I think the later trucks are your best bet (or go to a lot of effort to retrofit and get the best of both worlds). As far as the E4OD goes, I think generally it's considered a very solid trans. I bought my '97 with 161K and it's over 240k now. As far as I know the trans has never had anything more than a fluid/filter change in its life. thanks! i always liked the OBS fords. been trying to find a 5.8 , thats not insanely huge but can still tow. in reality i just wanted something i could use and fix most things my self. mechanics are in short supply and prices are insane. ty for the info
  4. what year did they start using the obd ii is this trucks? are those later OBS trucks good at all? ive heard mixed reviews about the e40d transmissions. orginally i wanted the min ammt of emmissions equipment because of all the issues. were the early nineties efis still the old style?
  5. agreed, ive really been trying to keep it from going there. bodys in excellent shape, the cab no so much. i do have a parts truck with a good cab and heater vent system. cant get a title for it though, id have to remove it all and move to it. i barely have time now to work on it. but ya know maybe that would be the thing to do. i cant get any shops around here to call me back about putting a new harness in, really sad state of affairs
  6. That's what it looks like. Yes. I also edited my original post to supply more information to it. Hope it helps ... (although researching all that gave me a proverbial headache. ) yeah the truck is definitely a po. at least i know that its not worth going ahead with the wiring harness and other fixes, it runs and drives a little but its just a cobbled together mess. in reality i guess it just needs to go to the scrap yard,
  7. thanks., thats alot of good info. :) very helpful.
  8. id rather not have the first gen efi. is there any way to upgrade or replace the efi to a more dependable system? can any bullnose parts interchange with the bricknose? https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/300435335801468/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post
  9. blower so this one i found by mistake and its got the correct blower motor wire connections. but i cant find what application this would fit
  10. Yes, my 1980 was originally an F100 (it was a 5150 GVWR with power brakes so had the F150 lug pattern) and I swapped in the D44 axle beams from a 1995 F150 to convert it to 4x4. Everything bolted up without issue. The rear axle would swap in with no issue as well. F100's tend to have really high gears, so swapping the rear axle to get a lower gear ratio would be recommended. I think mine had 2.75's and I don't believe any 4x4 front axle came with that ratio, but I could be wrong. it looks like the guy has the cost down to 2500$ now. how hard a job would it be for a shade tree mechanice to take my manual 1980 axeles and put them under this f100? nm, its probably more work than i can do. shame
