  1. Thank you Gary I really appreciate it. I know LMC carries both clear and amber light assemblies, but I just didn't know if they would fit an f600. I'll go ahead and order them now. Thank you again
  2. Good morning everyone, I am working on an 88 f600 which has the same body style cab as a bullnose. It needs new parking lamps on the front of the truck right underneath the grill. Would anyone know if these light assemblies or the exact same as a regular pickup truck bullnose with the exception of them being clear lenses versus orange. None of the local Ford dealers can find any info for these. Any help is appreciated, thank you
  3. I'm glad it should like 4.5 psi. I'm guessing the 3 port mechanical pumps on the over 8,500 gvw 351s have a high volume low pressure setup. I can't wait to see how it works tomorrow.
  4. Update: Good afternoon everyone, so I just installed a fuel pressure gauge to check my fuel pressure and I'm getting about 4.5 psi. Does that seem ok and would it be ok for the edelbrock when I get ready to put that on?
  5. I am curious as to why you chose to get an Edelbrock over a stock replacement carburetor? The Motorcraft 4180 carburetor your truck came with is the most precise carburetor Ford ever built, and is the same carburetor the mighty Mustang GT used from 1983 - 1985. The 4180 was a Holley carburetor. I chose the Edelbrock because it's a little better on fuel mileage, no power valves to deal with, you can tune them pretty easy from what I've seen, and for a man who lives paycheck to paycheck taking care of his family, it cost less than the 4180 and 4160. Currently it has some cobbled together 670 truck avenger that a guy from work gave me. It's missing the fast idle setup for the choke so I can't use the choke. I have the mixture set rich enough to hold a cold idle. It stumbles and hesitates until it warms up and then it won't do it as bad. But this thing drinks worse than a 460 and is gutless for what it should be. I'm hoping when I get this edelbrock on and dialed in it should be a lot better. Right now, i think a 240 straight six would run circles around it.
  6. I'm at sea level so I'll see how it acts when I put it on and adjust if I have to. I found a carb adjustment chart with numbers that corresponds to what changes need to be done (needle, springs, jets) to achieve the best performance throughout the rpms. It will be my first time really diving into a carb and I'm excited to see how good I can dial it in.
  7. Happy Sunday to everyone and thank you all for your help. I ordered my 1406 Edelbrock from National Carburetors and it should be here Wednesday. I also ordered a tuning kit so I will be prepared to make adjustments if need be. I have an inline fuel pressure gauge that I need to install to see what kind of fuel pressure I'm pushing. It also looks like I have a factory wire for my electric choke too on my truck. Will it be sufficient to use for this carburetor? The ground side of the choke, would I just ground that to the base of the carb? I'm just trying to get this truck right now that it's now my daily driver and I want to squeeze as much mpg's out of it as I can. I currently think I'm around 5, 10-12 would be better and I wouldn't expect more than that with 4.10s.
  8. Thank you Gary for your help. Did you have to run a fuel pressure regulator? I have the over 8500 gvw fuel pump that has the return. I don't know if they put out too much fuel pressure stock.
  9. Good Evening everyone, random question for you all. For a stock 351ho, what should the jetting be on the carb? Has anyone put a 600 Edelbrock on a stock 351 and found out the correct jet size and needle size? I'm looking to get a carb from National Carburetors and I thought if I knew what it should have versus what it comes with stock, I might be able to have them set it up and get it really close for me. According to them, they said it comes with .098 primaries, .095 secondaries and 075x.047 metering rods. Any help is appreciated
  10. Good evening everyone, on my 86 F250, I'm in the process of having my exhaust almost ready to be done. With everything being stock, other than a 650 edelbrock, long tube headers, 2.5" dual exhaust with xpipe and having the timing at 12° would anyone happen to have a guess as to how much horsepower and torque I should have? Once I get it back I'd like to test drive it and feel if it has the power that it should have. If stock is 210 hp/305 ft/lbs, I'm going to guess 240 hp/ 350 ft/lbs? Thank you very much!
  11. I believe I still have the original distributor laying somewhere in my truck that's not with me yet. When I get it back, I'm going to take it apart and see what plates are in there. If they are different than what is currently in the engine and it will work in my favor then I might just switch them out.
  12. Jim, my engine for the most part is stock, other than emissions deleted, a 650 edelbrock, and headers with 2.5" pipes, x pipe and chambered mufflers. It has 4.10 gears, I drive pretty low key, not too fast because of the t-18 and no overdrive, so I usually stick to the speed limit.
  13. What would you guys suggest the best total timing should be for a 351HO? I was thinking 36°, and if that is, I might go ahead and try to open up that 10L slot to get the extra 4° I need. 12° initial is the highest I can go before I get the hard hot start, so the 10L will only get me to 32°
  14. Jim, you wouldn't happen to have a part number for that spring kit do you? The one I got only had 2 springs in it. I appreciate all the help and wealth of knowledge on this topic for me, thank you all very much. Once I get my truck back, I will have try going into it and see what I can accomplish. The guy I work with who is doing my header and exhaust installation said it's running and performing alot better with the carb he put on for me.
  15. Matthew, on your truck, do you have the sticker on your radiator support that tells you your factory timing and spark plug gap? Mine says 10° is my stock initial timing, but I have mine advanced to 12°. Anything higher than that like 14° I encounter the hard hot start you're talking about. With the distributor I have with the 10L/15L advance plate, I would have to advance my timing to 16° to get 36° total.
