  2. This may help you / others. On cables that are stiff and need lubing I take a baggie and poke the cable thru 1 corner and use a rubber band to hold it tight near the end of the outer part.I then put a little ATF in the baggie so it will flow into the cable.I then hang the cable so the ATF can flow down the whole cable and drip out the end.I will move the inner part as it the ATF works it way down and when done it moves like new.I have also done this with Ebrake cables that where stiff or I coil them and soak them in a pan with ATF.Dave ----Awesome, thanks! I’ll give that a try. On Fri, Dec 7, 2018 at 10:22 PM FuzzFace2 [via Bullnose Enthusiasts] <redacted_email_address> wrote:
  3. Nice! Sent you a message. Let me know you got it? On Sat, Dec 1, 2018 at 8:43 PM myrl883 [via Bullnose Enthusiasts] <redacted_email_address> wrote:
  4. Yea, let me know if it the cable is decent. Mine seized up and snapped last year. So now I’m manually changing it between seasons. If I remember right those are obsolete now for an 81’. Mine has the idiot lights too. Is that uncommon?
  5. Have a heat selector cable? What about pics? Seat? On Thu, Nov 29, 2018 at 4:17 PM Rembrant [via Bullnose Enthusiasts] <redacted_email_address> wrote:
  6. I’m going with too goofy. Just going to replace module and see what happens.
  7. Like this? https://www.ebay.com/itm/NOS-FORD-DURASPARK-IGNITION-CONTROL-MODULE-NIB/232993063752?epid=1925474158&hash=item363f780348:g:dz8AAOSw8m5btDRX:rk:1:pf:0How about a CPU heatsink? Here’s a rough mock-up. Too much? Too little? Too goofy? Tried to position it right above where there was the least amount of resin in the leaky one. Assuming the less resin = more heat in that area.
  8. I plan on increasing the airflow by adding spacers. Seems to be the easiest way. I’ll pick up some contact cleaner tomorrow and clean the connectors up. I’ll keep the melted one as an emergency backup as it was working. Just as a side note.....what other parts does everyone else keep in the cab for emergencies? I have a starter solenoid, vacuum caps, hose clamps, and now this module. Anyone have recommendations for anything else?
  9. Unfortunately I never got my AC install done, so yeah... I couldn’t wait to get back over the mountain to Golden Valley where it was only 107*F ha ha. I had a cooler full of ice water and rags. I would not have gone except we found a deal on some water haul tanks that I didn’t want to miss out on. The truck did fine though, no overheating even on the long climb out of BHC. And no melted DSII 👍Edit: and now it’s our turn to enjoy the 70’s*F 🙂Got my module today and was going to install it but but the old connectors are too corroded for my liking. See below for pics Is there a good way to clean them before putting new module in? Especially inside where the contacts are. Just use contact cleaner and a brush? Oh and here is the new one next to old one.
  10. How is the module mounted? Would it be beneficial if I allowed more air flow underneath it?
  11. Just curious, what IGN module did you go with? Brand/supplier?Just got a new one of the one that is currently leaking. Motorcraft 12A199 Amazon has them. Having a hard time trying to find a motorcraft coil though. Will probably have to go with something else. Unless someone has a source?
  12. Yea. Think I’ll do that. Any suggestions on coil I should get or avoid?
  13. I will take it off tonight and see what the underside looks like. The “leak” isn’t wet to the touch. It is hard like plastic. Looking back at some pictures of the engine bay show this has spread over time. I could see a little bit of the “leak” in the corner of the module when I first got the truck. Just didn’t notice it. Would it be advisable to replace coil too?
  14. I think it is the resin because the “leak” is hardened. It is like it got super hot to melt it then cooled off after it ran a bit. Replacement is on the way.
