  1. Not related to my truck, other than just competing with the truck for shop space: I just grabbed a 5.0 roller block out of storage and put it up on the stand. I'm getting ready to do a quick upgrade to our "new" 1979 Mercury Zephyr. It's a fox body platform car, so upgrading from the 200 straight 6 to the 5.0 is an easy conversion. It's going to be a fun car!
  2. I have a few 92 302 sets that have an extended neck on em. My 86 just has the hole.
  3. What are the pros and cons of state inspections and why did they want to get rid of them?
  4. I have a split bench front seat for free. Just needs someone to come get it! Upholstery is ripped, driver's side top frame has a bent bar, because the truck was wrecked and a person got flung into it. I figured someone might one it for parts or to bend the top bar back and re-cover it. Hit me up if you want it. It'll be here til the weekend of 9/7
  5. People are always amazed by how I can put together where something is on google maps from a picture taken on the ground. The secret is that I had nothing to do as a kid for hours at a time but look at the map! They have a really fun game out called Geoguessr where they show you a google street view image and you have to click on the map where it was taken. Using those orienteering skills! https://www.geoguessr.com/
  6. Sometimes it seems like good cars are wasted on contemporary owners. It's only the people decades later that truly appreciate them after most of them are rusted away lol
  7. To add a little trivia, there was actually a 351m and 400 casting t had bolt holes for the big pattern and the sbf pattern!
  8. I have a few sets of Pantera 4v 351C heads right now (one of which I'm trying to sell, unsuccessfully). They are badass. They are the same casting as the Boss 351 heads, same ports, valvetrain, valves, and chamber cc. I'd probably consider them wasted on a 351M or 400, but I bet they'd be a huge improvement over stock!
  9. As far as 351's go, I have had a bunch of 351C, a couple 351W, and almost no 351M (and 400). The 351C is an absolute torque beast in any configuration, the 351W has great potential, and I love the SBF familiarity factor. The 351M and 400 seemed like any other late 70's engine that had been nerfed for fuel economy and emissions. Those last two ALWAYS had open chamber heads, but it was the same design as the 351C, for which there were multiple versions of closed-chamber heads made. A closed chamber swap on a 351M or 400 would be an instant compression boost, as well as getting you much larger valves and ports.
  10. I've become a huge fan of 4r70w swaps with a US Shift controller. The wiring and setup was a lot of fun, and the improved mileage is awesome. Not to mention other advantages like fine tuning control, and lack of the torque converter CLUNK when downshifting like with the old AOD. The C6 was the big dog for decades, but for my projects from here on out I'm going to do something else. The only really period-correct car I have that would have a C6 in it now is a 70 mustang, but that one has an FMX instead.
  11. They were sure used in a lot of vehicles! Even some BMWs. They are apparently notorious for developing fatal leaks that cause all the clutches to burn up. I bought a 2002 Rodeo to flip that needed a trans rebuild, and learned all about them. Can't wait to get into the heavier duty stuff though!
  12. And sometimes, all those electronics and clutches are just plain neat! I'm getting ready to do a rebuild on an Allison 1000 for a big diesel project I'm starting, and I'm pretty excited to dig into it! I know it's going to be fairly complex, but it can't be worse than the last one I did - a 4l30e from an Isuzu LOL
  13. Hey guys, I have an extended cab headliner that I have had listed for sale for a long time and it hasn't sold. I'm clearing out old listings that didn't sell, and I'm getting rid of this thing soon. If anyone on here wants it for free, hit me up and we'll arrange a time to come get it. I'm probably going to do my next inventory purge in a month or so. I also have all the interior plastic parts from a 91 extended cab in light blue that are going away soon as well.
  14. Hey, I have sourced original 1986 Ford upholstery fabric here. Their stuff is in great condition. https://www.deadstockautotrim.com/shop
  15. I have a spare NP208f sitting around in my shop. If you're looking for a replacement instead of a repair, let me know.
