  1. Thanks Gary.. I did look into one of those gear box options you suggested but I only found them on-line and once I pay shipping back and forth with the core exchange it got pretty expensive. If you or anyone knows where I can buy one in the Phoenix area I’d love to get it locally. I talked with my NAPA rep and I can get my money back for the junk reman one. I think I might as well upgrade the pump as well?
  2. Greetings.. hope we all have a safe 4th! Well I got everything replaced ie,. Re-man steering gear box and pump, Borgeson lower shaft and the upper steering bearing from DRB Fab. Also had La Bronkita re-aligned. However.. now I hear a clicking sound coming through the steering column. I was able to just slip right in the bearing I had heard that could have been challenging but it slipped right in and has some play! As well and slight play on the gear box end. Also the re-alignment helped but still pulling to the right. Help! I’m frustrated at this point and don’t understand why now the clicking and after several re-alignments still pulling right.
  3. Right on! Thanks for the feedback I was thinking I went overboard by replacing everything but thought might as well while I’m at it. I’m hoping this also takes care of the vibration when I apply the brakes it’s not bad but it started after I got my first alignment and before I started replacing stuff. They wanted almost 2k for everything! But I’ll be taking it back after I get everything installed myself for around 500$
  4. Oh and I did get one ordered I’ll post my experience installing it. I already installed a new gear box, pump and upgraded the steering shaft. So hopefully I’ll get it properly aligned and back on the road.
  5. Thank you guys.. always a wonderful resource I hope we’re all able to keep it strong and relevant. SteveC
  6. Greetings especially to all the fathers out there.. I’m looking for the a replacement lower column bearing the oem part number is 3D681. Mine is completely shot and need a replacement any help please. Thanks..
  7. Oh ok thank you! I’ll double check that.
  8. May God Bless you as well! Thanks for the info I will proceed and btw they did sell me the additive so I’m all set. Thank you!
  9. Hi all.. I’m in the process of changing the gear oil in the rear axle of my 86 bronco. Vin tag shows axle H9 and the metal tag on the diff shows: S809P and 3L55886G28. I tried research it on. I just want to make sure I use the correct lubricant. The person at NAPA sold me 4 quarts of 80/90 Valvoline gear oil but looking closely it states it’s standard transmissions and I have an 4 speed automatic transmission so now I’m really confused. Can someone tell me what rear axle I have from the vin tag/metal tag as well as what lubricant I should be using. I plan on changing out the front soon so that info would be helpful🙏🏼 Thx
  10. Got my bronco back after 4 months in the paint shop, not a perfect job by no means but I’m content “you don’t know what you don’t know” now I know ..what a 6k paint and body job looks like. Probably should have increased my budget to get it to the next level. Good news not afraid to drive it daily. Ok so since I stripped it bare it’s been a challenge putting it all back together and one small thing I’m trying to figure out is on the back seat I don’t remember where or how the two big springs get attached? can someone shed some light, I looked in docs and it’s not clear.
  11. Awesome …that’s ingenious of you. I’ll give that a try I have a roll of neoprene that I think will work. Thank you!
  12. Replacing the glass on both the passenger and driver side, I was able to pry off the rail off the bottom of each window using my heat gun and elbow grease. My question is what do I use to attach the windows back onto the railing? Looks like some type of rubber seal. Is there an adhesive that would work. I’m also replacing the vent windows soon and looks like they are set up in the same way. Ps: need a recommendation for the purchase of the rear window I looked on line but shipping is a killer.
  13. Thank you Gary that makes sense and I now remember that Mat also mentioned the need for that in one of my previous posts. Peace!
  14. Installed new speedometer cable and driven gear, speedometer radically moves jumps around and unstable also appears to read a much higher mph then actual speed by like 15 mph. What could be the causes for this. Does anyone have a working one for sale 4 speed automatic with tachometer.
  15. Yes what’s the Amazon supplier. He doesn’t think sending me just the gear is a good idea for the various technical reasons he listed. And will refund my $. Thank you for sharing I did see the eBay post. Thx
