  1. Please remember many people who enjoy these old Fords are older themselves (like me) and not too computer savvy (like me). Make it too complicated and they may just move on. Keep it as simple as fulfills your requirements.
  2. Does anyone have any idea what a good BW 1345 transfer case should be worth? Thanks. Whisler
  3. If you are interested in the hooks, just let me know. They won't work on F250, at least not easily.
  4. My1984 F150 4x4 had tow hooks mounted on the frame rails, outboard side if i remember correctly. Truck is long gone but I still have the hooks. May have been the bottom of the rail, it's been awhile.
  5. Behind every successful man there is a good woman...pushing.
  6. H9 and 3L55 says you have a limited slip differential with 3.55/1 ratio. Not sure which differential you have, 9 inch or 8.8, but if it has a removable cover on the back it is not a 9 inch. I believe that they gave you the right lube but you will also need to add friction additive for the limited slip. The reference to transmission type is that some manual transmissions also use this type lube. Someone more knowledgeable may be along soon.
  7. Two thumbs up on this! I have a full Dremel kit in the plastic tool box, and I've bought an assortment of bits for it over the years, and I use the thing ALL the time. I'd be lost without it. Check your local parts store for tools they will loan for free. (AutoZone in the USA has some). Don't buy a tool or piece of test equipment that you may only use once or twice in your life if you can get a loaner. For me that would be something like a compression tester.
  8. I even had lunch with Dan Gurney; nice guy but quiet. One of his crew members got in a fight in a bar in Indy with his team jacket on. Gurney fired him for disgracing the team. Saw some interesting stuff at Indy. One guy trying to qualify a Chevy V-8 ran 50% nitro. He didn't stay together. Should have used a Ford. Lol!!
  9. Back in 1968, I worked in the Valvoline garage at Indy, mixing fuel and dispensing oil to those that were sponsored by Valvoline. Many of the drivers wanted their fuel spiked with nitromethane for qualifying since they only had to run 4 laps to qualify. Dan Gurney was running 2 Ford engines at that time, one OHC and one pushrod and qualified both. On race day he asked me to mix 15% nitro for the pushrod engine but demanded that I tell no one. Perfectly legal, but no one could expect to run nitro for 500 miles and keep an engine together. If I remember correctly, his cars finished 2 (OHC) and 3 (pushrod) and to this day I have no idea what his builder did to that pushrod engine to not only keep it together but finish 3rd on 15% nitro.
  10. I had a dipstick tube that leaked because there was a hole in the groove for the O-ring. Drove me crazy trying to find the leak.
  11. I did that swap on an 89 F250, but my engine and trans came over together. Rather than swap columns, I used a Hurst Pro-Matic 2 floor shifter. Didn't even hook up the kick-down rod due to using Edelbrock carburetor. If I need to down-shift I just slap the ratchet shifter down a gear and back up when the need is past.
  12. The relay setup works well on the Edelbrock on my 351W, pulled in by the stator wire.
  13. Update: Finally got my Edelbrock Carb re-jet kit and dived into the carb. Removing the rods I found them to be the stock rods (.068x.047). When I checked the jets I found them to be .098. This rod/jet combo (#11) gives the richest cruise setting on the the chart and the second richest power setting. No wonder it seemed rich and got lousy mileage! I switched rod/jet combo to #16, 1 stage lean in cruise and 1/2 stage lean in power. Seems to run fine like that but later on I may try #19, 2 stages lean in cruise. Thanks for the advice.
  14. Happy Thanksgiving and God's Blessings on everyone.
