Tailgate lock [says for 1987-1996]

Haven't ever seen these before. Watched a youtube video - pretty simple setup.
The latches are different between 7th and 8th gen, right? Holes could be made to attach it using the handle mounting holes but I wonder if the locking arm would be in the wrong place.
