New Way To Host EVTM's

Guys - I'd like you to take a look at the 1980 EVTM I just added.  (Documentation/Electrical/EVTM/1980 EVTM)  I'd like your thoughts on this new/different approach to hosting EVTM's.

All of the other Bullnose EVTM's are actually just pictures of the pages broken up into pages with the sections on them, whereas this one is a pdf of the whole document.  There are advantages and disadvantages:

Advantages:

Quick: We have a new member, Chris/Htex88, and he has an '80 with electrical problems.  Heretofore we've been telling people that the '80 and '81 wiring is essentially the same, but Chris had me look at two things, the feed to the brake controller and the fuse box, and they are very different.  So he needed the '80 EVTM, but I didn't have the time to do it as I've done before.  This way is easier for me.

Searchable: This approach lets you search for a wire color, connector, switch, etc.

Disadvantages:

Posting: In order to post a page from the EVTM to answer someone's question on the forum you have to take a screenshot.  And since I do post pics a fair amount, that is a downside.  However, this way I'll be able to easily draw on the pic after I take a screenshot, so it isn't all bad.

Links: On the '85 EVTM there's a set of links at the top and bottom that let you go to the previous or following section or to the Contents page.  With this approach that isn't readily available, but I may be able to come up with something.

Anyway, please tell me what you think.

Oh yes, I'll be adding blue boxes to the Contents page so you can click on them to go to the section you want.

Works for me. Tried a screen shot. Very easy on my iPad.

Edit: Although it seems small, I selected the medium size.

Thanks, Dane.  By the way, in my experience a screenshot is always small enough not to need scaling down.

Thanks, guys.  I'm working on a link at the top and bottom of each page that will take you back to the contents page, so you'll probably see things appear and disappear as I try ideas out.

But please keep the ideas and comments coming.

Gary, isn't my 1986 in PDF format? I just don't have the links to go from section to section.

Bill - I do have it in a pdf, but apparently "printed" each of those pages to a jpg and used that on the pages where the EVTM is hosted.  So I could change that one to the new approach, assuming we like it.  But it is turning into more work than expected, so I'm not in a hurry to do that.  Let's get this one sorted and see what we want to do.

Speaking of getting this one sorted, I now have a link back to the Contents page at the bottom of each page thereafter.  Now I can work on the links IN the Contents page.

Actually the 1980 and 1981 are very different in wiring. Some of the differences off the top of my head...

Headlamp wiring: 1980 only.  Wired for non-halogen incandescent headlamps.  Halogen headlamps were standard starting in 1981 models, so the 1981 got an upgrade in wiring, with a heavier duty headlamp switch. The 1981-1986 headlamp wiring is mediocre at best. The 1980 is worse and definitely needs a relay kit as even standard halogen headlamps will overload the 1980's wiring and stock switch.

Fuse Panel wiring: 1980 only: Again this was changed and rearranged in the 1981 models for electric mirrors, door locks etc. The 1980 did not have a power window door lock option etc...

1980 is a one year only truck for a lot of things.

1981-1982 is very similar though.

1983 is also a one year wonder for a few wiring circuits.

1984-1986 is also similar.

Hope this helps ...

Yep, that's pretty much what I'm seeing - the 1980 wiring is DIFFERENT!  I knew there were some changes for 1981, but not what I've seen.  Thanks, Ralph.
