Hello from Kansas!

1986 F150
I am the proud owner of a 1986 F150 XLT Lariat. I Found it this past December in a local salvage yard, where it had sat since 2019. Has 5.0 engine/AOD transmission. Has factory tach. Body in very good shape for it's age. Even has the full front mat with the Ford logo. 124k miles. Picked it up complete (except for missing power window motors) for $500. I'm slowly bringing it back to life, spent first 2 months cleaning out a packrat nest, and repairing 4 chewed wires.

Welcome, Jeff!  Glad you joined.

That's a cool story and a neat truck.  You'll have many layers of the onion to peel, but we are here to help you.  And in the end you'll have a massive Bloomin' Onion!

Having said that, as with all peeling of onions there will be crying along the way.  Been there, done that, got the wet towel to prove it.  But it is worth it!

Abilene, huh?  Went to school a few years a few miles NW of there, so I know where it is.  But for the others, would you like to be on our map?  You can see it at Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu.

Thanks!!

Sounds like you went to school in the Talmage area?    Yes I would like to be added to the map.   This will be a great truck when done, just a few electrical gremlins to sort out. The tach, is first one I've seen in a Bullnose that I've had, and I've owned 6 of these previously

Actually I meant Kansas State.

Anyway, you are now on the map.

Welcome! I have a son named Jeff, he is a ways South of you, Somewhere near Austin Texas. My 1986 F350 had a factory tach, since I have updated the interior, it still does, just the newer (1996) cluster.

That is a beautiful truck!

My younger son, Matt had a 1986 F150 XLT Lariat 4WD, same engine and transmission as yours. A piece of advice based on his and a few others on here with 1986 EFI 302s. Carefully examine your engine harness for bare areas, cracked insulation, chaffed areas. You also want to look at the ground for the EFI system at the battery negative post, lest it decide one day to just not start.
