Carburetor Gaskets

vjsimone
Hello Lads,
I bought a Holley 2300/4411 2bbl at auction…. Disassembling it now to inspect and order parts.I haven’t soak anything yet.

The Fuel Bowl was really – really hard to break loose.

Metering Body is going to be a biach to get loose.  I tried the standard wiggle process, but it isn’t budging.

This one is tougher than all before……..
Looks like the gasket is the old black style, it split the gasket right down the middle with paper material left on both sides of the bowl.

Do you know if any of those gasket removal products will penetrate a sealed gasket, but screws removed?  Or should I just give it a pre-soak and see if that will loosen the gasket?

Thanks...

Hello, Vinny!

I would guess soaking first and see what happens. Or, what about heating the carburetor [@175 - 225F?], before soaking, and see if that would soften the old gaskets?
