10.25 semi float brake drums, which ones?

Looking to buy new brake drums for a 10.25 semi floating sterling axle, 12 x 2.5" brakes with 9/16 lug holes. There are two options, with mounting flange or hub mount. Pictures seem to be the same with both. My original drums have been turned at least once and am getting tired of the brake shoes still not making full contact after a year and a half of driving. E brake doesn't work worth a darn, worked awesome with the old worn lining making full contact. That, and they're warped a bit. What is the difference between flange mount and hub mount brake drums?

I don't have a light 250 with a semi-floater.

I would have thought "flange mount" would be the D60/61, where you have to pull the axle to get the drum off?

Edit, id be willing to bet that this one, that's fits 8.8 & 10.25 w/ 2 1/2" shoes is correct.
Though I don't think I've ever seen an 8" w/ 8 on 6.5.

Rockauto gave me the options as well as Oreilly's . Both in 12 x 2.5 and 12 x 3 flavor. I did more searching last night before I went to bed, apparently the flange mount has this extra lip on the opening of the drum it must seat against something on the backing plate it would appear? hub mount doesn't have it. Looks like it's hub mount, and the one you picked out is correct.

As far as the 8.8 in an F250, I've seen a couple, but they were the light duty F-250's, usually had 300's or 302's. My truck is a standard duty 7700 GVWR. I definitely don't envy the dana 60 for my needs, I know a guy that's had a 72 F250 since 77 with a D60 and he hates having to pull the axle and hub to do any brake work.

Yeah, I like the floating axles in my 8,600 gvw truck.

But I also have 3" shoes and guess there's only one drum (flanged style) ?

I was up in my rear brakes a couple of months ago when my parking equalizer failed.
Happy I didn't have to pull the darn axles to get the drums off.

What all is involved in swapping to 3" wide shoes? just the shoes, drums, wheel cylinders and hardware? or is the backing plate also different?

Id assume the backing plate has to have deeper offset, because the wheel cylinder has to meet the notch in the shoes.  🤔

I've never really contemplated it, but it might be an interesting dive into comparing part numbers.  💡

Backing plate is different. Shoes can only go so far out as the drum has to fit on at the proper spacing for the truck's track width. I ran into this while playing musical axles on Darth.

I had the original 1986 axle, a 1990 F250 axle and a junkyard 1993 F350 dually axle. That one had 3 1/2 wide shoes.
