Wisdom Sought- Battery Cable Lugs

Dyn Blin
I'm replacing my '82's original cables with some custom-made 1/0 a small shop fabbed for me.

Daft question- on all 3 of the cables, one end's lug is tinned copper, the other is unfinished copper.

Is the idea to use the tinned end on the battery side to reduce the corrosion from hydrogen seep?

Thanks for the bandwidth.

Yes, that would be my expectation - tinned will hold up better to the battery acid and/or fumes.

1/0 should be good cables.

Thanks Gary- got 'em in & I found some military terminals.  Looks good.

'Found a break in the sheath on the starter cable and more than a bit of corrosion when I peeled cut it back.  38 years is a long time.

Yes, 38 years is a long time, especially on starter or battery cables.  Glad you are getting this sorted.  It is always a pain to chase the weird problems bad cables can create.
