Any tips for removing the old one with out damaging a 32 year old reservoir? It does not look like it is going to be easy....I tried for a few seconds and the plastic on the pump started to crumble.....Hoping someone has a brilliant idea. :D

Cut the retaining ring with a small wire cutter. The replacement pump should include a new one.
