Way to repair shift indicator cable

BARRYS83F100
As the title says my shift indicator cable broke the other day now I have food luck sourcing obsolete ford parts but since mine is a "AOD" trans it takes part # E3TZ-7A110-A can cables be swapped for another indicator from the more common C4 / C6 indicator ? or anyone have a good used one ? please let me know.

Thanks,
Barry

Barry,

I actually had a very nice used one for an AOD that was removed from a 1985 F150. I had it in a ziplock baggie on the shelf for a year or so waiting for somebody that needed one, and I actually just sent it to a guy in Virginia about a month ago. Anyway, that is zero help I know, but...

Worst case I guess you could pull a good cable from a 3spd gear indicator? Looks like it would be easy enough to swap over.

Barry, yes they interchange......both indicators have the same number of positions & same travel distance.

About seven years ago I swapped an AOD out in favour of a C6; the respective shift indicators/cables swapped over without issue.

Hi Gary, thanks!

'See'?   I would love to get across to the States again, catch up & see more......maybe through the south & up into the New England region.
But it probably won't be for a while yet ($$$ )

Ken - I understand.  International certainly costs a bunch.  But it'll happen, so when you do PLEASE come by to see us again!

If you come through certain portions of the South travelling toward New England, the old route (before Interstates) comes right by me US 13.
