Dane,
My clip had a little self tapping screw in the upper left corner coming from the rear.
Belt and suspenders I know, as the clip isn't easy to get off.

Maybe Windsor bells are different?

That slave cylinder can be a real pita to get back into place if someone just pushed the pedal to break the restraining straps on the plastic socket that rides between the slave rod and the throw out arm instead of pushing it in and releasing the tabs.

Trying to hold the wobbly arm back against spring pressure of the slave while sliding the slave into the boss is a challenge.

Well done, Dane!  Thanks.

Jim - I do have the FSM procedure on the hydraulic clutch linkage, inc the slave cylinder, here: Driveline/Clutch Linkage.  I'd forgotten.  Anyway, it talks about "shipping straps".  Are those the "retaining straps" of which you speak?

When you get a new slave cylinder the actuating rod (?) is held back towards the cylinder by a plastic strap with a cup cradling the end.
The cup is the non wear surface that rides between slave and throw out arm.

I find that once the slave is in place you can push the throw out arm forward and get the T ends loose.
Then you can reverse that procedure if you ever need to remove the slave and you don't have to fight with it getting it back in.

Just my 2c

That's good to know.  I assumed that the straps broke.

The straps will break if you follow the recommended procedure.

By using the throw out arm to compress the slave you can save the ends and reuse it.

You’re welcome! Been awhile since I’ve messed with a clutch. But I do remember the cup you’re talking about. Must have done it on the 88 with the 7.3 I used to own. There is a difference, the 4.9, 5.0 and 5.8 are together in the FSM, and the 6.9 and 7.5 are together, but I didn’t look to see the differences.

Iirc numberdummy had posted the Windsor slave bracket p/n on FTE, bemoaning the $75 price.

So it very well may be the slave bolts to the side of the smaller bell housings.

At least it's not one of those concentric slaves like in the 5 speeds!

I thought those songs were "crying in my beer" songs.  Diet Pepsi?  That might make it better.
