Thermactor System Part Numbers

fords4life
Gary - If you have time, is there any chance I could bother you to upload the parts list for the '86 5.0 EFI thermactor system.  I see the diagram, but I haven't memorized the part number stuff yet to fill in the blanks.  Thanks in advance!

Nathan - I looked it over, wondering why I hadn't already done this, and finally figured it out.  There are two parts that aren't generic - the air pump and the valve.  Said another way, the only way to find the part numbers for the pump and valve is by calibration code - and there are 713 of those.

So, if I had your calibration code I could get the part numbers.  Or, if you don't have the calibration code give me the year, model, transmission, engine, carb, and anything else you can think of and I'll try to figure it out.

Sounds like fun!

Are you referring to the calibration coffee on the PCM?

Gary, Nathan, of all the ones you could get into, 1985.5/1986 5.0L EFI is probably the biggest snake pit you could dive into. I know there are something on the order of 10 or more different EECs in that roughly 18 month span and that may be for each drivetrain combination. I discovered this gem on Matt's 86 F150. Hopefully the valve cover emission label or the one on the radiator support is still legible.

Bill - Right on!  It is a quagmire.

Nathan - There was originally a label on the valve cover as show here: Documentation/Specifications/Calibration Codes.  But if you have the info from the ECU I might be able to get there that way.

There was nothing left of the valve cover sticker and those are painted now.  I'll have to check the core support stickers this weekend.  Here's what I have from the ECU.

ECU ID# E6TF 12A650-AAA cross references to PN E6TZ 12A650-AAA.  And I find that ID# and PN used only once in calibration codes, but this one doesn't match your truck as this one's an F250.

And these match the description of your truck, but don't use that ECU.  I'm lost, but it looks to me like you may have the wrong ECU.

However, the reason we were trying to drain this swamp was to find the thermactor pump #, and all three of these use the same one.

That's interesting.....Must have been swapped at some point before I bought it.

Thank you!  What about the rest of the thermactor system?  There are a couple hoses and the hard pipe that runs on the passenger side that I can't find.  Was hoping with part numbers I might be lucky.

See what you think of this: Documentation/Emissions/Thermactor Systems and then the Part Numbers tab.

Gary, not sure why I didn’t just post the image in the first place.  The hoses in Diagram B and 9H308 are the parts I’m looking for full numbers on.  Thanks again for the help!

I'm sorry, I forgot this!

But, I've now added 9F287, 9G424, and 9K446 to the part number info.  I hope I found everything you need, but if not PLEASE tell me.

However, the drawing shows a "9H466" and that number doesn't exist in the catalog.  I've added a snippet from the catalog, at the bottom, showing the alphanumeric order from 9B466 to 9H467, and it skips right over 9H466.

And here's a snippet from another illustration showing that one of the hoses in that application is a 9B466.  I wonder if the "H" in the 9H466 should be a "B"?

Gary - Huge help!  Thank you.  Not having much luck finding anything, but at least I have the numbers now.

Last one I need is the 9H308.  It's the hard tube that runs along the passenger side manifold.

Re: Thermactor System Part Numbers

Ok Gary....One more if it is easy to get to, if not, I'll just stick a piece a wire in the hole this weekend to confirm depth of the blind hole.

Bolt 56561-S(B-104-B), it is the shorter bolt of the 3 that mount the thermactor bracket to the head.  I'd like to try to find a factory replacement bolt since I've apparently lost the original one.

Again, don't spend a bunch of time looking for a part number.  I've dug through all the Ford manuals I bought and can't find it.

The 2004 Standard & Utility Parts Catalog says: 7/16" 14 1-1/4" B-104-B 56561-S2

(I really need to put that catalog on here.)

Thanks again Gary!  I found the catalog too since you put the name of it and got it downloaded.
